Picnic

We almost always go to Dad's near Daytona in July. I'd be pleased if we could set up a day on the beach, where we might get together to eat, chat, and burn. I'm thinking maybe Friday the 6th, or Saturday the 7th. Harry? Chuck? Arnie? Sam? Peppe? Whosoever will? There are a couple of off-beach parking sites we could choose from, or we could go ahead and park on the beach. I still do that from time-to-time. I'm real careful, though. In '76 our new Capri II (Le Cat Black) was nearly swept away by the tide. It only happens once.

I re-posted this (sort of) on the "Meets" listing.

I assume you mean Rockford

If so, sorry, I can't make it. I'd truly love to, since I have a brother in Berwyn, but it just ain't in the cards.

See ya next time, I hope.

Wasions,

How many people do you have slated to come to Daytona thus far? I would be interested in coming if it's going to be more than 3 of us. It's kind of a far drive, but I'm sure worth it.

Thanks!

I must have missed this line in your thread before. My family and I were on Daytona beach in '79 when the tide started coming in. I had to run and save . . . are you ready for it . . . my '74 Capri 1600! That is TOO wild. Too many weird things, here: We both own SVXes . . . we've both owned "German" Capris . . . and both our wives are named Sharon. How random is that?!?!?

Well EveryShadeofBlue, so far, let's see, there's me and . . . oh yeah, that's it . . . me. In another thread I pretty much abandoned the thought of meeting. One other guy emailed - to say he'd be in NY at that time. Ah well, we'll stop at McArnolds on the way to the Lighthouse, visit a while with the toll booth guy, and then be on our way. Sharon (not yours AreDub) and I were planning to go further South for a couple of days, but it's not likely that we'll see the West Coast. Maybe next time. I have yet to attend any kind of meet, except a couple of lunches with Randy (and now I can't be seen with him 'til he fixes that fender - LOL), but Autofest is coming up!

Randy, it's like our parallel lives have somehow connected, eh? Y'know, like last time we visited I couldn't help but notice, your hair's greying. Hey! Mine too! (Just kidding. I color mine to look that way. Sorry about yours.)

Sorry a Daytona meet isn't working out, it would have been fun and a great photo opportunity out there on the beach. There seem to be a lot of Florida SVXers, but we are not organized and most people seem disinterested anyway. It's really sad! Floridians are so laid back.

Peepee is in Florida! Give him a call, maybe he'll show you his 980 HP SVX!

haha! Good one Eddycat! Oh yeah, in addition to lazy, disinterested people, we also have delusional, crazy people in Florida. Maybe we can have a meet at the local mental hospital in Daytona. I think that's near where Pepe lives.

Hey! I'd be up for a meet at the Psycho Ward! Although, I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy.

I'll have you know I've earned every darned one of those grey hairs. It's not so bad that it's turning grey. It's that it's turning LOOSE!

Well Jeff it ain't like I don't have the time, and if my wife and I keep fighting like we have been lately I may just have a whole bunch of extra time on my hands...but I don't think I'm quite ready for the psycho ward yet.

Does anyone have a video camera? I'd show up at peepee's house and demand to see his 980 HP SVX at which point he'd beat the crap out of me! And THEN, we could have Aredub whip out his trusty copy of R&T and slap me about some more! We could concievably make a Blair Witch type of profit off of the movie rights.

It's not that I'm disinterested or crazy (Ok, so I am a little insane about the car), I just work all the damn time. It's hard to get away. Last time we did a mini-meet here in Florida I could only stay for a little while (had to meet the wife and you KNOW how that is). I'd be interested again, if the time was right (i.e. didn't conflict with work).
