The trans should go in fine, but you'll need to match the rear diff.

The WRX uses a 3.545 rear, the same as the SVX.

The RS is not a 3.545, it's probably a 4.11?? You'll need to get a 4.11 (or whatever matches) rear out of a Legacy and swap your LSD into it. The info to swap the diff is either in the "how To's" or in a post somewhere?

ok i found out the 02 wrx was a 3.90 ratio and the rs was like huck said, 4.11, so would it be worth it to convert the car to a 411 ratio, is it benifial?

Little more get up n go...Highway rpms may be a little higher, but it won't be annoying...Actually, it puts rpms closer to here the car loves to make power, so it can get you in trouble if you have a lead foot

the seat gives me a hug easily from a stand still with 4.11

...like it loves it and asks for more.

not a bad price, I should grab it as a spare

The only car that you can retain the stock SVX rear diff is a 2002-2005 WRX
Which have 3.90's in them, but a reduction of 1.1:1 to the rear so they run a 3.54 rear diff like the SVX....

the 98 Legacy manual will bolt up, and will either be a 3.90 or a 4.1 and will require swaping the rear diff gears.....get the numbers off the housing by the starter and look it up.
