my 29k bord pearl 96 svx...

As some of you know, i bought this car from ebay just a few months ago. Cosmetically, it was spectacular, but needed some mechanical work mostly due to sitting and neglect. I intended to keep the car till it dropped dead so I put quite a sum into it to make it right. I replaced all 4 wheel bearings (2 preventatively), dropped and cleaned the oil pan, flushed out all fluids, put back on the stock rims, changed the front struts, front and rear brakes including new rotors, dent removal of several dings, and more to the tune of $3100 on top of the already high purchase price.

Now I am moving and constructing a new home. I do not have room for a 3rd car and really dont care to rent a garage for it for a year. Which brings me to my point...what is the car worth? I am not trying to get back all I put in as i know i paid for a car that was not supposed to need any work when I got it (11k). $3100 later plus $1000 to get it to me, tax at New York 8.5% etc...... i am pretty upsdie down...

Any advice before i put it on ebay would be appreciated...

It is now the car that it was supposed to be when shipped to me

just the crazy low mileage makes it a high value, and the fact that you have corected the flaws it had. It is really up to you on the price. I remember your pic and it looked to be in awesome condition. I could see it going to upwards or 11,000 or more on ebay.

to be honest, its gonna be hard to find a buyer. It would be in your best interest to hold onto it as you will suffer a significant loss if you do decide to sell.

I would agree. I would be wondering what to do myself.

Try Canada

If I were you, I'd keep it. But if you really want to sell it, try advertising it on craigslist in Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal. While the price of SVXs is dropping in Canada, it's still substantially higher than in the US. Any Canadian purchaser can find out what he has to do to import it on www.riv.ca.

Lots of luck.
