Would you consider an SVX transmission with 312k miles AND with no removal from the SVX AND I have owned it since it had 90k miles on it AND I think it was rebuilt around 43k miles a statement to your statement above?

some SVX'S are prone (made to) to fail.
I don't think they were made to fail ... not intentionally ... it's just a matter of weak technology at the start of production.

If owners were made aware of the weakness of the transmission early in 92 ... I'm sure they would have taken steps to correct the problem.
Subaru tends to react somewhat slowly to defects in their products. Or deny the existence of such ... ie: 2.5L head gasket leaks
And true maybe we don't get the best of their technology here in North America.

We don't, it's simple as that. Subaru Japan has always had better products than Subaru of America...

110K miles on the original trans, no rebuilds, no aux cooler. Although my copper rad might be more efficient than the stock plastic rad is at cooling tranny fluid.

As for the best SVX? I think everyone agrees, the one with their name on it.

Uh, the stock tank is copper too. It just has plastic endcaps.

I have an all-copper rad, core, end tanks and all. Check the picture in the "92 Ebony LS-L" folder in my locker.

Wonder where that one came from? Or did you install it? Local rad shop or ?
I need one for the 92 I just bought. It has a crack in the top.

It's something a previous owner did, so I'm not sure. I think it must have been a local shop, because Subaru would have used a stock replacement. This rad isn't specifically for the SVX, the mounting points are soldered on (whatever technique is used for welding copper). I've got a PWR rad that I bought from Darknessofdeath waiting for an opportunity to install.

NICE!

btw ... if you want to get rid of the old rad I'd be interested.
no rush as the 92 is my 'other' SVX.
I'll be up in Ottawa in late Nov..
