Can you post a sound clip of the flowmaster? I too am starting to look at options for replacing the stock muffler, and I would rather not have to guess.

You want the Aero AR20 resonator (2" inlet/outlet). YT and OT use the AR25 (2.5"inlet/outlet.) The AR20 is the smallest they make.

My custom exhaust uses 2" header pipes running into two AR20 resonators (which replace the pre-cats). 2" tubing into a Magnaflow 94007 high-flow catalytic converter (dual 2"inlet/ single 2.5"outlet). 2.5" tubing out of the resonator into an AR25 resonator (replacing the stock resonator) and 2.5" tubing to the stock muffler.

The principle is that the two resonators/glasspacks of different lengths prevent the exhaust from resonating at one specific rpm band. If that happens, you don't enjoy life.
Ive also heard running unequal lenghth pipe before it merges also helps...with the same principle behind it. I wonder, then, if two diffrent lenghth resonators for pre-cats would eliminate the need for a third resonator after the main cat

Hmm, I was assuming most people would just run straight pipe inplace of the front two single cats, a new 2 => 1 cat then resonators + muffler back of that.

I see what you are saying though and that would work good. If its not forced induction anyway. For Forced induction I'd make the 2-> 1 cat the first thing that isn't a chunk of plain exhaust pipe.

For full racing that just requires a cat to be kept (aka rally) putting the cat last on the stick works as it just has to be in the system, not work properly.

Exhaust
Why bother? It's all off the shelf stuff for a price higher than what you'd pay if you order the same stuff from Jegs.... no offense Dayle. I just think it'd be better if he actually developed an ACTUAL svx exhaust system, instead of buying a few parts, then reselling them to make money, and 'hoping' that you can find an exhaust shop to cut, bend, and weld everything correctly. The cost of all that bending and cutting would probably be pretty ridiculous.

The car for sale near me has that exhaust set up. It resonates pretty badly at around 3k rpm. Below 3k rpm, it sounds pretty nice, but needs to be a bit quieter. over 3k rpm though

I know I could get everything for cheaper i just figured if anybody had that set-up i would ask if it was a good one. ie; sounded good, not ricey.

there are better options out there for equal or lesser the price... Contact shotgunslade... he has the perfect N/A SVX exhaust in my humble opinion

Significant Technical Input
I'm running something different on my na svx than everybody else. I think it flows better and sounds better...but i can't back that up and am not interested in putting in the effort to do so. I'll tell you my personal thoughts on why I did what I did and then what I did and you can take it for what it's worth.

The outlets on the exhaust manifolds are 2.25" The tubing is severely crimped down and transitions to small tubing for the primaries. If you cut very close to the flanges you can go straight with 2.25" from the flanges with no restriction.

A dual inlet cat despite having 2 inlets has the same surface area and thus presents around the same restriction as a single inlet cat--hence two primary cats is about half the restriction of a dual inlet cat. Cats are also more effective closer to the engine.

Magnaflow's dual inlet single outlet mufflers are basically a big resonator with a corrugated y pipe inside. They are extremely high flowing and can be used to make the conversion from the two primary pipes to the single pipe back to the muffler.

I cut everything out from almost flush with the flanges which bolt to the exhaust manifolds to the tube going back to the muffler. Used 2.25" through out with a pair of magnaflow cats (installed rotated a bit so as not to get in the way of the transmission drain), and a dual inlet single out magnflow muffler. This set up has ZERO resonance; not the slightest hint of resonance anywhere. It's a little quieter than stock.

If you want it to rumble a little more than stock with this setup would you remove the Ar25 resonator or the stock muffler? This may be the setup I run when I get a new exhaust fabricated.

You should remove/alter the stock muffler.
The front half of the exhaust is where power is made, and the back half is where sound is made.

You could add a flowmaster 50 instead of the stock muffler. More rumble, deeper tone. My son has that on his Pearlie.

Or for a more aggressive version of the stock sound, ask svxfiles how he modified the stock muffler in the pearlie owned by newsvx. He wanted a meaner sound under heavy acceleration for autocrossing and just a little deeper while cruising.

Something about cutting the muffler open, cutting tubes and welding it shut. From svxfile's locker under "Harry's car"
