So how do you drag race an SVX?

I'm talking about a real dragstrip with a real tree, not on the streets. What rpm do you powerbrake at? How can you put it in power mode from a stop? Do you use the manual button?

You powerbreak to the TC stall and when the 3rd yellow light comes on you drop off the brake and gas it. it is fairly simple for Autos to drag. 5 speeds on the other hand are quite tricky and very inconsistant if the driver is not a pro.

People should stop messing with the manual button. Just don't touch it.

The power light will not illumintate in manual mode, nor should it be able to.

What Tom said...
Additional info -- TC stall is ~2500 rpms, you might want to play around with 1500 and 2000 also to see how your car responds

Chike made an excellent write up for the SVXipedia but unfortunately my web server decided to act up this afternoon and I won't be able to fix it until I can get home from work (5.5 hours from now).

You don't! You go out and find some REAL racing to spend your time on. That said a power brake at 2000rpm (hope you have good brakes) and a manual shift will get ya the best times.

Oh yeah, it won't be good on the transmission long term.

I power brake to 2400 and leave the shifter in 3rd. It's hugely consistant and got me my best times. when you stomp it down on the last amber light power mode will engage. I also think it does a little better on the strip with the tranny resistor disconnected. Good luck.

it's located right behind your battery. unplug it and the shifts will be much harder but you won't have engine braking in 3rd gear more than likely. try it, you'll probally like it.

Just remember if you do that, you will get the power light blinking to show there is a code which will tell you that the resistor is bad. (no, just unplugged)

Fwd

how about any tips on launching a FWD? Should I still powerbrake, and just ease into the gas slowly? I know if I just punch it I'll get too much wheelspin.
