SVX in So. Florida
Hi fellow SVXers, I just found this website and I am seeking a little sound advice!
I have a '92 with 110,000 miles that just was originally my mother's car---she drove it down to me in Miami from Denver about a year ago and I have run into a series of problems, which I am not entirely sure aren't in part due to a lack of trustworthy mechanics familiar with my car. The transmission (surprise) was rebuilt shortly before the car moved south....and had a minor adjustment needed once it arrived, the mechanic in Denver had me take it to a place here that would honor his warrenty....they fixed the first problem and created another.....the Denver mechanic had me take the car to a second transmission shop---who kept the car for three weeks and never even looked at it (although they did manage to put a basketball sized dent on the driver's side)....I then took it to the local dealership----who refused to look at the transmission, but the Denver mechanic finally presuaded them to remove the transmission and ship it back to Denver (where he discovered the entire problem was due to a smashed connection wire and the first miami shop had glued the parts back together.....) The transmission was shipped back to miami and put back in the car by the dealership---under some durress.....and since then I have had a couple of other problems---the dealership and I dread the sight of each other.....There is currently a mysterious white steamy smoke being emitted from the engine. Obviously, I am starting to wonder if bringing the car down here was worth it----people suggest selling the car (oh my no!), and I was curious if anyone can suggest a mechanic who may have some familiarity and be trustworthy in the South Florida area. I unfortunatly, am not well educated in engine speak----so need to find some one I can trust to fix my baby. Thanks for any advice you can offer! Also-----I realized I do not know the official color of my car----it is the dark purple. I tried to check subaru's official site---but they have nothing up for cars before 1995. Anyone know? Thanks! |

The color is called Claret. Here is a link to a website that will explain a lot of your questions.
Welcome to the site.
