any mechanics out there?

I live in the poconos, pa. I can't find an experienced mechanic to work on my svx. They know Subarus, but when they look at my car, they say that they don't have any experience on this engine. I don't want just any mechanic experimenting on my car. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic?

At this moment, I need to replace the valve cover gasket (passenger side) I would also like to have a complete car check inspection. maybe a tune up as well.

Hey how many miles ya got on your car? SVXPERT does the 60/120k service for around 300 bucks which is a damn good deal.

Valve Cover Bolts

Hi,

Replace the cover gasket, the bolt gaskets AND the bolts. The bolts are VERY soft and may break.

I managed to break two. Ended up removing the head and backing out the bolts (luckily I didn't have to tap the head). It's almost impossible to back out the broken bolts with the head still in the car. Just not enough room to get a drill bit in there, even with a 90 degree bit adapter.

So a few extra dollars will save you from replacing the head gasket as well.

Regards,
--DawgTool

You need to move your shop to NE OH, somewhere between Cleveland and Akron......say Medina, or if you work for a dealer, go to work for Brunswick Subaru (just N of medina)

I agree.........I was going to ask you....How do you like the service Brunswick subaru provides? and is there a certain mechanic there you would recommend? I have to schedule an appointment to get my car fixed.

Are you going to be in Ohio again anytime soon?.....Maybe you can take a look at a few problems I have....not that anyone wants to hear about others' problems....lol, but maybe I could meet you half way..........It's just that I don't have any history on this car and no records of what was altered, removed, etc.....My main concerns are electrical.
