charger questions
Will a turbocharger or supercharger raise compression ratios? Out of the two, which one is more economical or affordable.

Neither change the compression ratio, but it doesn't matter. Both put additional stress on the engine, and if not tuned properly, the additional stress is great enough to cause engine damage. Since there is no street-driven supercharged SVX (that I know of), and there has yet to be a properly done street-driven turbo SVX, no one knows which provides the most performance and reliability per dollar.

Nothing external will change your compression ratio. CR is a very simple calculation between the volume of the cylinder at BDC (Bottom dead center) and TDC (Top dead center).
Atmospheric pressure is (about) 14.7psia (Pounds per square inch absolute) at sea level. or 0 PSIG (Gauge) i.e. 1 atmoshpere If you double that with a turbo (14 lb's of boost) in theory you double the HP. as far as economy, you'll need to define the term a little better. drag racing=supercharging Anything else=a turbo is generally a better option.
