Semi-OT : Subaru Drive Magazine

We just received the latest issue of 'Drive' magazine. Ther is a letter in it from a Subaru owner from Ft. Collins, CO that I'd like to share, so I'm reprinting it below. The headline above the letter is "YELLOW EUPHORIA." So Randy, to paraphase Barry Manilow, "This one's for you."

" My 1983 Subaru GL-10 has served me well over the years. I taught my wife & three kids how to drive a stick with that car. However, my family would often make fun of the yellow color. They thought it was so outdated and stuck out too much in a parking lot. I just bided my time. I knew that yellow would come back someday. Imagine my euphoria when I saw the 2003 Subaru WRX in sonic yellow! I just had to get one. Now my teenagers think that it's cool to drive a yellow car. Too bad for them that the WRX is Dads!"

Below the letter is a photo showing the front ends of both, a pale greensih yellow GL-10 wagon in really good condition, and a bright yellow WRX.

Obviously this fellow suffers from a bad case of 'yellow fever'.

My Missus has a saying, "Nobody could possibly take you seriously in a yellow car"

Not quite sure what she means by this. I like yellow cars. Maybe she watched one too many Tweetybird cartoons in her youth.

I like some cars in yellow. Despite what the big three think, all cars do not look good in all colors. While there are some colors that some people don't like, I think Subaru nailed the colors on the SVX. There are other colors that would have looked nice, but the few that they gave us are perfect for the car.

Question

When will the 10th Anniversary Meet pictures appear in "Drive"?

I agree. I'm a one color guy.

Not to throw things off topic here, but if you think YELLOW sticks out in a parking lot, you should see Chryslers NITRO YELLOW GREEN. Available only on 1995 Neons, it was a mixture that stuck out like a sore thumb.....

Here are some pics:

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/willeann/NeonAC1.jpg
(yes, thats at a rally event)

The color is so weird it spawned a seperate owners group...

http://www.nygclub.org/

There's the link for it. Weird. Weird is good though.

I think the SVX would look DISGUSTING in that color though, so don't worry.

It all depends on your definition of BIG. I've seem many humungous (sp ?) trucks in quarries. Most were painted Caterpiller Yellow. GM (Terra) quarry trucks are painted a pale yellowish green.

I'm sending off some pic and a short write up to Drive on Reading. Hope to get it out this weekend. We'll see what they do with it. They've put Impreza club stuff in there so keep your fingers crossed.

If I had a sore thumb, and it was that color, I'd amputate it myself.

Man, what a hideous color.

That sucks, I think more people should write and send more pictures, may be then they will consider bringing the SVX up.

We should write something like: "You are so ignorant, and you forgot that SVX ever existed and that it was one the the best suby out there". (J/K) it does not have to be that bad, he he.
