Special thanks, as the continuing information is valuable and of real interest.

smoke is essentially gone

No more blue smoke on startup, and the *only* thing I did was draw down the oil level from 1/4 over to 1/4 below full. I have to assume that the slight overfill plus the somewhat nose-down parking attitude caused the crankcase to flow into the forward couple of cylinders. It's hard to believe that the car would be so sensitive to a slightly too-much amount, but there you are.

Very interesting. I raised this issue with reference to the markings on the dip stick and the possibility overfilling, but my concerns were cried down.

With this engine 80K is very low for piston ring problems. [although anything is possible, unless you know full history]

Maybe the blue smoke is a combination of problems? The overfill, plus the off-level parking may be aided and abetted by one or more bad valve seals?

Our 94 smokes only when parked on our steep driveway. If parked on a flat area it's fine.
