Liquid to air intercoolers

I was just at PWR's website and was looking at their liquid to air intercoolers. Anybody have any opinions on these? Any bonuses versus a FMIC? Besides the easier plumbing?

There's arguments that support both.

WTA usually have shorter paths, ie less potential for lag. However, WTA's require extra plumbing and associated things...heat exchanger, radiator, pump, wiring and hoses.

ATA has longer paths, but is lighter and simpler...nothing to break.

I think there's good reason that World Rally Cars' have progressed from WTA to ATA...I think ATA are better.

what about power though? would I have more potential from a ATA than a WTA?

Intercooler comparisons.

I think the front mount A/A has more potential for power. Its a more direct exchange. The WTA is more consistent, but generally not as efficient (2 heat exchangers instead of 1). I also have been unable to find a good heat exchanger for the front of the SVX. My concern with the A/A is fitting a cold air intake with all the intercooler plumbing. I am still considering both. I think if you can fit it, the front mount A/A would be better, cheaper, and lighter than the WTA. If you are building a drag race car the WTA can be fitted with a tank that can be filled with ice. In that case the WTA might be a better advantage.

Sorry to not have a more straight forward answer. I still have not decided what I am going to do.

Good Luck.
