Leak around thermostat housing

Hey everybody,
I am having a leak around my thermostat housing. I just replaced my thermostat and gasket and am still having the problem. Where else could the water be coming from? I replaced all of my hoses when I put in my pwr radiator so I am now out of ideas. Could it be possibly be my water pump? It now appears to be leaking from above the housing. Thanks everyone for all your help, without this site my car would have been launched off a high cliff long ago.

P.S. It's scary when you call your local Subie dealer to tell them you need a part for an SVX and they ask you if it's an SUV.

If it is coming from the thermostat housing, you may have a problem with the gasket. It could be the water pump, but without knowing where the water is coming from, it is hard to say without looking at it. Good luck.

PS How do you like the PWR Radiator?

Look for the "weep hole" on the water pump. Water comes out from here if the pump seal has failed.

check to make sure you're rivet thingie went in the right position and you got all the air out (air can lead to a leak too). I know Marlettepat had some definate issues when his was changed.

How long since you replaced the pump if ever?? Also, might want to check and make sure the thermostat housing bolts are all in there and tight. ui know my silver car did not have an upper housing bolt in and was leaking a little. luckily I spotted this when I put in the PWR radiator. Double check and make sure the thermostat seal is seated properly also

Great, I'll look on thursday a little more thoroughly, I have never changed the water pump. It leaks even with no pressure, I can fill it up and it will start dripping without starting it. The radiator is very nice, however it seemed to "help" blow radiator hoses. I then went back to my original earless cap and all was well until now.

Just make sure the housing bolts are there and then make sure they are tight. If not, you may be due for a water pump replacement
