cv shaft or front diff is blown
parked my car at school for 5 min and come back to move it. i hear and feel the thumping sound from front of my car when its moving. going to go pick it up tomorrow and get it on a lift to figure out whats wrong. had no problems getting to school no unusal noises.
where would i be able to find those parts in northern va, if they need to be replaced. the front diff or cv shaft would another subraru's cv shaft work instead

got my car on a lift today after sitting in the school parking lot for the weekend and found out that my front diff is blown. so i'm going to get rid of the car. unless some one wants it. tell me a price

is there any place cheap where i can get it done around this area. or can it be done by yourself. u have to remove the transmission right

Transmission comes out. You'll probably want to source out a 4.11 or 4.44 transmission/rear diff as you'll save money and your car will be more fun to drive.

You are right, those gears come from Subarus that aren't SVX's.

Mine is also doing the thumping too, but only when I back up. It started when I backed into a parking space that was on a slight incline. Sometimes it will thump, sometimes it won't. Is this the cv joint or the differential?

does sound like the diff because mine did that before it blew up
earthworm: what would need to get. and also do i need to replace transmission

who has done the 4.11 swap. what subaru transmission did u use and and rear differential
