We need far more information than what you've provided. Please give us the details on the car, and what exactly is wrong with it.

Re: what do you think of this.

If you want it as close to reliable as possible, expect to replace all the pulleys, belts, hoses, power steering, alternator, battery (if it isn't new), timing belt, idlers, water pump (oem only), thermostat, o2 sensors and if you have the money new coil packs backed with new plugs.

You'll have a very solid SVX after this (and roughly just spent $2k) outside of the transmission... that's a whole other area to only worry about when and if issues arise.

The SVX is like an elite but expensive luxury auto owners club. You pay a low initiation fee to get in but the annual membership fees vary from person to person and can get kind of expensive quickly at the most unexpected times.

The truth!
Seems to come in waves. I didn't spend much at all for a few years, but this year has been the year of replacing parts. 290,000 miles will do that!

Re: what do you think of this.

with 290 on the clock and 15+ years old . How much do you think it takes to keep any 15 year + car alive. I was at a car show last Friday. I saw a Mustang that I guy had $30,000 into . A 1990 Mustang. He told me even after that he finds thing that go wrong now and then, Even owning anew car. i just saw an ad for new Mercedes . sensors that can tell if you are falling a sleep , adjustable ride , self parking , avoidance monitors, lane change alert, tire pressure monitors. and it goes on and on . What will that car be like to keep on the road in 4 years let alone 15 year. Bring a new car in for a check up or 30,000 mile maintenance and you will think owning a paid for SVX is cheap. Wifes Acura was $560.00 and it ran fine when I took it in .<LOL>

I will fix that one you have. You can also bye a ''new'' svx, but this can maybe have the same or more problems. And now you also know what you have fixed. It`s seen that is ''normal'' wear on the car.
