Rear Subframe bushings

The eminent Mechanic dropped my rear subframe, cut the sockets and pressed out a few bushings. This is from a 96 car at 154.000 KMs:

These will get shipped to Poland presently and new poly bushings will be made.

The Mechanic, who is doing a great job on this car, was under the impression that the factory had not intended these bushings to be swapped. He had to fabricate a little to get the job done. Apparently, all four mounthing bushings are the same type.

Will report back as soon as I hear anything from Strongflex.

Re: Rear Subframe bushings

These are from the old sub-frame correct? So you are going to change the bushings on the new frame?
If so, how did he move the car off the lift and out of the way without the sub-frame? Dollies?
I'm interested to hear how it goes with Strongflex.
The old sub-frame from my '97 with 250K looked far worse than that. My car came from a heavy salt use area of Ontario and used to be driven year round.

Re: Rear Subframe bushings

I think the car is still on the lift, to be honest. He's doing this as a hobby-cum-money these days.

The idea is to ship all four mounts to Strongflex and see what they can do. I think refabrication is the most likely route, i.e reusing the metal and substitute the old rubber with polyehturane. He may want to machine a new metal part and then manufacture complete replacements... I don't know

At any rate, this is the only viable way. The subframe assembly (which was the only source of the mounts) is EOL.

Re: Rear Subframe bushings

The new bushes are shipped and will be available from Strongflex. Will take photos and report on details when they are received, pressed in and subframe is installed into the car.

Good to hear. I'm interested how they'll feel and handle.
