Talked to Josh at PWR, they are commited to make this right. After verifying that the modified cap works (no ears) they will fab and replace everyones caps. I look forward to the final solution from them, but in mean time I will band saw the ears of my cap and see how it works.
By the way, PWR also has stainless T-bolt hose clamps that would go well with the radiator, especially if you have silicone hoses. |

So, if I understand this correctly, the ears on the caps are hitting the hood of the car and causing the cap to leak? Cutting off the ears provides sufficient clearance between the cap and the hood?

they are suppose to be making a special cap for it. Just wondering what will happen if the new cap goes bad. They won't be available over at the local parts store.

Cap
Electrophil,
If you show up in San Luis Obispo I will have my modified carbon fiber cap done and working. Once I get the proccess 100% I can pop out one a day. I'm using 207 epoxy resin and H5 carbon fiber, it should look great and it won't yellow with heat and moisture. Steve

Regardless... I want one of those caps! Two of them for a backup if inexpensive enough. Let me know a price when you figure it out.

Great price on T-bolt clamps
I found a website with great pricing on T-bolt clamps: link here
The clamp for our application costs $2.32 ea. (plus $6.50 standard shipping for orders up-to $100) Summit's are $3.95 ea. (plus &8.95 handling fee) These clamps are all made by the same manufacturer. The help absorb the shipping costs, I teamed up with a buddy that needed some clamps for his project Mustang, so we split the shipping cost. These clamps will last the life of the silicone hoses without damaging them as the screw type band clamps clamps are prone to do. I highly recommend them to anyone who got the new rad and hoses. |

I had PWR send me an e-mail for posting. Apparently they are having problems getting an account activated.
this is a cut and paste from there e-mail. "I have been reading through all the posts on your Forum and it is obvious that there are fitment issues with the cap. We are working on fixing this problem, this problem would be solved a lot quicker if we were able to get on the message board a lot sooner, we have been waiting two days to try and post on the forums but not one moderator has activated our account. We are still looking for a volunteer to test fit our new cap. Until we find one, we are not able to proceed with sending out new caps to our customers who have fitment issues with the SVX. We here at PWR are not exactly understanding how there is fitment issues with the cap and the fan brackets, we are not saying that there are not fitment issues, we just do not understand how a the radiators sent out are an exact copy of the prototype. This radiator was test fit, and was given the green light to start producing by a member of your SVX forum. As for the transmission cooler, this is a far superior unit than comes in a stock radiator, it is not about how much fluid the cooler hold, that makes not one bit of difference, it is about the efficiency of the unit. Our transmission cooler is guaranteed to run 12 degrees cooler than OEM. The reason our transmission cooler works so well, is it is able to pass fluid very efficiently, and seeing as the transmission cooler is in contact with the radiator coolant, which is already cooler than OEM because it is an aluminum radiator, it cools the transmission fluid quicker, and lowers the temperature over OEM. On the forum it appears that one person has claimed to know more about cooling products than our engineers, and has said some false statements about our transmission cooler and everyone seems to just agree with him. We assure our customers that our transmission cooler is more than efficient to handle your transmission cooling needs." If you could post this for me I would much appreciate it. |
