Re: Front Diff

The hard parts needed for the ring and pinion and the reduction gearset, which according to subaru all have to be replaced as a set (there is a difference in the design of them) cost near 600. That does not include spiders, or the front diff case or bearings.

Re: Front Diff

sounds like it would be cheaper to get a new tranny and either change the whole thing or swap the diffs

Thumbs up Re: Front Diff

Just an update on my issue. I contacted my insurance company and talked to them about how it happened and they went out and inspected the car. They are covering the cost of all repaires. If they cannot find a front diff then they are going to replace the transmission as they have one with the diff on it and the insurance will pay for that as well. can we all say YAHOOOOOOOOO

Re: Front Diff

I just got a chance to see the parts today and a new used trans is going in there as well. THe ball that comes out of the trans to turn the diff is only half there and the diff is missing like 10 blades off of it so something got in there and catastrofic failure!! Thank good the insurance is covering this. I would we dead in the water.

Talking Re: Front Diff

Just a small update. Got the check from the insurance compant and the trans and the diff should be here on monday to go in the car. It was nice to see the check and turn it over. THere is a 0 deductable on it so nothing out of my pocket to get her back on the road. I think a nice bath when she gets home and a nice drive are in order.

Re: Front Diff

Is the used transmission out of a SVX? If not, you will also need to change the rear diff to match it....

Re: Front Diff

Wekk POOF it went again. The question is what to do now. Is it a pain in the ass to put a new tranny in the car with a new front diff attached. How am I going to get a tranny for low cost? SHould I part it out?
