Seat Belt not rewinding

The drivers belt has lost its will to rewind, so I am about to pull all the trim off and sort it out. Has anyone been down this path before ? any tips on hidden fixings or other gems. I assume the return spring needs replacing, or maybe the whole assembly. All advice gratefully received.

Arthur

Hello Arthur, I am facing same problem from the beggining I bought mine. Once I put all belt out and clear it and it solve it for a while. But still feel that time it will not rewind at all is close. As I have spare care it will not hurt me too much but I am eager to read about some easy cure here:-)
Take care, Petr

Petr, I have all the trim out and the problem is simply the spring return mechanism. I am going to get a belt from an Impreza and figure out how to swap the spring mechanism. The other possibility is to use the spring assembly from the rear belts, they have never been used.

Petr, almost, I have a new one on its way from Japan, I have a freind who has a contact and he has bought one at trade price, I should have it soon.

I did look at the rear assembly and I reckon the spring part could be swopped if you want to have a go. I would have done that rather than pay UK prices.
