Re: Key stuck in ignition??

Its because it needs a signal to know the car is in park. Check over everything but that's what is causing the issue.

The key is held in position when required, by the key lock solenoid, which is normally controlled and energised via the A/T shift lock control unit, located under the drivers side dash.

The solenoid could be mechanically jammed or electrically energised and held in. The solenoid has no ground connection and is energised via a black/red and a blue/green wire.

Re: Key stuck in ignition??

Hell, mine does it all the time.. I just jiggle the keys and push till they come out.. Jiggling the shifter and moving it around a bunch seems to help too. Make sure it's in "Park" and whatnot.

Re: Key stuck in ignition??

iirc a completely dead/disconnected battery sticks the key too.

or atleast one time when I tried to start it with a flat battery it wouldn't give me the key back till I jumped the car to get some power.

Its funny, I just mentioned in a thread a moment ago that I never drove a manual car before. How does it stay still? The big brake handle? Mines broked..

Re: Key stuck in ignition??

under the ignition switch there's a plug you can remove and there's a lever you can toggle to release the key

When you leave the car in gear, it prevents it from moving.
