going to pacific raceways

hey im going to my highschool drags in a week at pacific raceways, i had a few questions before i go.. should i manualy shift or let it do auto? and ive heard of people loading up which would meen to brake and load up to 1500-2000 rpm at the line before they launch so they dont get any hesitation. should i do this or will it be harsh on my torque converter? and any other tips would be good =] thanks.

Just mash the gas when the light turns green. I'm sure you've done it plenty of times just like everyone else here.
You might save the trans from a little strain if you preload the TC, but it won't help your time any.

well im pritty sure ill get a better time if i load up. i meen i have bad heasitation if i gun it off a line and if i load up then i get instant take off. and i seem to be able to get through the gears faster if i manualy shift right before rev limiter.

If you are getting a bad hesitation there is something wrong with your car.

You are probably going to take multiple runs right? So just run with different methods each time.
I did that and got my best time just mashing the gas flat out in D at the green.

Obviously depending on your ability to react and the hesitation of your car that only you would know, you'll want to decide when the best time to mash is that will coincide with the light turning green.
