OK, the insurance company has written it off and she is quite happy to get the money 7500 NZD which is much more than it is worth. The mechanicals of this car are pretty tired.

Also she had a personalised plate "A SVX" which we are transferring to my car!! What a plate eh??

So I'm buying the rolling wreck (if you like) off the insurance company and will get the bits I need off it to complete my car - towbar and things. Then it is up for sale as a write off or if no takers I will strip it completely for all the good bits - If anybody wants anything- and sell the shell to the yard. I'd like to keep it for future parts but my father's garage space is limited!

I will be back in NZ from new years onwards so if anyone is interested further drop me a note.

I was going to repair it , easily done, but would have to spend quite a bit to get it to a nice level - shocks, paint, and it's got high mileage - and my car that has only done 95000 KM is in much better shape so I think I'll concentrate on using the money for that. Or possibly for the 993....

So, it is either for sale as is (radiator or hoses were punctured during crash and front wing damage) or I will part it out. Will let you all know!

Cheers all

Matt

Happen to have any pictures? I've been strangly intrested in doing a rhd conversion, or clipping a damaged rhd car with my rear damaged car...
Oh...and itll help people see the condition of parts they will be purchasing, if that becomes the car's fate

Exclamation I have photos.

OK all, I have photos of the wreck as below. Front bumper was taken off the car (I have it but the lower vents are broken, could be welded together). The damage seems only confined to the front superficial sections, around the lights and front bumper area.
The bonnet has a small kink in the front LHS and the LH front panel has popped out at the front (you can see on one of the photos it sticks out a bit too far.
The chassis doesn't seem to be affected but obviously cannot be sure of that.
Steering wheel airbag has been deployed.
Radiator has NOT been pushed back into the front of the engine, but it does have a hole in it.

I am planning to sell the car as a rolling wreck if anyone is interested, or part it out if not.
Interested???

Matt

That's not bad at all...
Looks like an easy fixer to me.
To bad it's on the other side of the pond

Best of luck on the sale.

Still got it?

I could use a couple of parts if you have.

Any reason for a drive.

Cool Part for SVX

Hey give Peter (petersw@ihug.co.nz) an email - went over to his place at the weekend - he has 2 SVXs at different stages of being pulled apart - I saw 1 steering wheel with the switches for radio/cd selector actually in the wheel!!.

He has all sorts of goodies just waiting for a new home.

regards

Hi Steve,

Vandals attacked the left had mirror on my car not long ago. I have obtained a replacement from a wrecker no problem, but it is the wrong colour. Repainting it is expensive in metallic dark red. What colours are the cars you had a look at?

Thanks and hoping, Trevor.

Cool side mirror

Trevor - sorry to hear about your side mirror issue. Peter was parting out 2 cars one is same colour as NUTSHL (2 tone mettalic burgandy/mettalic black) & the other is a metalic teal grean.

Give him a call or check on Trademe.co.nz - he has only a small amount of gear showing at any one time, but is available by email or phone.

(he also has other cars / parts for sale - check out the Pontiac Fierra with the Ferrari body kit).

He is also looking at another Fierra with an F50 bodykit.

His name is Peter & email is petersw@ihug.co.nz

regards

Trevor, it sounds like one of Peter's cars is the correct colour for you, always hoping the mirror is good.

You might possibly be aware of this already, but all SVX mirrors, and particularly the claret like yours, and the brighter reds, they all suffer from the paint going dull on the mirrors. The other colours suffer it as well, but to a lesser extent.

This is because the mirrors were not painted on the cars at the factory. The mirrors were bought in from an outside supplier fully painted and then fitted to the cars.

The problem arises from the mirror factory doing a poor job on the spraying of the mirrors. They seem not to have used a UVF filter in the topcoats, or quite possibly only used one clearcoat where three would be doing it right.

If both your mirrors are particularly dull in appearance, you might be better off taking them off the car and spraying them properly and with decent clearcoats.

Joe
