power steering assist

A couple of quick question (I hope)...

I have the cheapo model that has engine speed sensitive power steering (like on the LS and L models) and would like to change it so it's vehicle speed sensitive (like on the LS-L and LSi models). Is there an easy way to do this? Has anyone driven both kind of setups? Is there a big difference?

Cheers,
Matt

Matt, I've got one of each, and there is some differance, my LS-Tour requires a lttle more force over about 30 mph not much but noticable if you're looking for it, My L model is more consistant about force required, as even the base model is "engine" speed sensitive as the engine rpm discerns the amount of fluid being pumped, and generally the faster the car is going, the faster the engine is turning.
I could be totally off base on this, but these are just my observations, on my limited experiance.
I don't personally think its worth the trouble to change them out.
Hope this add some insight on your questions.

Thanks Huck. If there is little difference between the two, then I'm not very inclined to mess with things. Especially when it involves putting in something else that might break in the future.

As a side note, I'm totally jealous of your 5-speed. Maybe once my transmission finally fails...

Cheers,
Matt
