Power steering fluid foaming over
I'm new. Searched using the terms "power steering fluid leaks hose rack". I got lots of hits but nothing on this issue.
The car has been leaking Dextron all over the place. At first it was thought to be the transmission gasket but that's been fixed. Big puddles. I got in today, started it up, backed out to get on level ground, popped the hood and the fluid was foaming up past the power steering dip stick and running down all over the place. I just got the car so I hadn't had the engine running and the hood popped yet. I'm thinking back pressure from a clogged line or (correct me if I'm wrong) clogged in-line filter. I doubt it's the rack and pinion but haven't put it up on a lift to confirm (and won't be able to until next weekend). I'm hoping someone has seen this before so I can pass it on when I return the car this week and pick up a different svx. Eric

Have you done the O-Ring replacement yet? That could let air into the system and cause the foam to occur. I would start there.

I haven't checked or replaced the O ring.
I highly suspect something else since it's spilling copious amounts of fluid out. I was hoping that someone had run into this before. No worries though, I'll just indicate what the problem is (along with a bunch of others!) when I have the car returned tomorrow.  Let's just hope the other svx is less in need of TLC right off the bat!  Eric

a big +1 on the O ring.
When the P/S pump draws fluid in to move the wheels, a bad O ring allows air to be sucked in as well. This causes the fluid to foam up, and "boil over" Besides it's a cheap easy fix.

Drove my svx "winter car" to work all week due to the ice and snow. She made it all week almost without a hitch until I pulled into the driveway at home friday and she puked all the power steering fluid out in a foaming mess. Christine was angry that her week was over. Guess it's time for a new O-ring!

Sometimes I wish I could return my SVX and just pick up a different one. The problem is that they will all need something and you may be better of doing this simple fix.
I am curious as to where (or who) you bought this one from, not many places have multiple SVX on the lot.

O-ring was shot to the point that the torx screws were loose. I should know better after 200,000+ miles! All fixed and ready for the snowpocalypse we are getting now.
