The problem with using the key fobs ( at least in my situation) is that I have to wait for the interior lights to go out before I can arm the alarm with the key fob. Do you have the same problem?

I do not. As soon as I get out, i hit the button, and it chirps. If the security is armed, it alarms it and locks the doors. If not, it just locks the doors.

An easy way to test your alt is to start car then disconnect the + battery lead.
If it continues to run, your alt is good. If it dies the alt is toast.

Thats wierd Mine will not arm until the interior lights go off. Takes about 30 seconds then I can use the key fob. I wonder why that is? I thought that it was normal but since yours arms right away

This is not a good idea. In the event that the voltage regulator is faulty the voltage could run away and damage electronic components. Furthermore with no load connected, the voltage regulator has a hard time.

This test is unlikely to show up the diode fault which so often causes the fault lights Christmas tree scenario.

May as well bring my issue to a closure. Just got the SVX back from young Tom. The battery draining problem was from the lock/unlock switch that would be by your right arm. The switch was sticking. The switch was replaced and the car managed to start-up with the battery connected, over 24hrs.

Will see how it goes once the battery stays hooked up for a few days. That's all for now.
