svx ram air?

i was just curious do you know how hard it would be to make the svx ram air. if i bought a svx fiberglass hood with the wrx scoop made in it, could i buy the stuff from a sti to make it ram air? how does that work out. does the sti airbox fit the back of the sti throttle boddies, and does the svx maf sensor plug in to the airbox or how would that work? I have no clue if someone else has done it or not i was just wanting to do it to mine later so it would be better air flow than a cold air intake

As far as using STi parts, I don't think they will help you. As I understand it, the STi, along with all the other WRX's, use the scoop to cool off the top mounted inter coolers Subarus are famous for. If this is the case, it would be pointless to feed the intake after that, because not only would the air have lost most of its velocity, but it would also be warm air.

You're best bet at ram air is through the front somehow. This is due to the clearance of the hood vs the intake manifold, there's not much room, so the air would become heated.

There are several threads detailing a few of the ram air ideas. Most are WIP, but will give you a good idea of where to start.

Here's the one I made for the racer. Linky

It's not real practical for a street car. Bill "SVXride" also made one for his racecar.

You could cut a hole in the bottom of the splash guard under the passenger side and throw a screen over it.

Been there, done that...it's actually not very efficient due to the air flow in the region. It does work fine if you're putting a trans cooler in the area
