Re: So Cal meet is ON!

To all those who were at the meet.

It was great putting faces to the names.

We both had a great time.

Look forward to more events with the West Coast Group.

Have fun at Petersen's tomorrow.

We will keep you posted about the developments to the house.

If people are up for it, we can have the next West Coast event in conjunction with a house warming

A house-warming meet sounds great, count me in

It was great meeting you two as well. The littlest SVXer had the most legroom of them all!

To everyone else, it was great to meet you all. I had a fantastic two days making new friends, talking cars, and taking in the history. Thank you to Paul for all your work and investment in making this event happen. It was the highlight of my SVX ownership to date. We'll have to do this again soon.

Thanks Paul, a tremendous weekend with first class treatment all around, much appreciated! The Petersen Vault was the highlight for me. We really have a good group of SVX owner/operators!

Re: So Cal meet is ON!

A Great Weekend!

Thanks to all, but especially Ron for not only putting me up, but for putting up with me and my near-constant antagonizing over everything (including his lack of vices).

But I also have to praise Paul, it doesn't do justice to say that he "shared" his VIP status with us, amazing as both venues were, without Paul's near god-like presence in these places, we would have had only a tourist's view, however Paul's prestige led us behind closed doors and into the inner sanctums of two incredible collections. Amazing, unforgettable, thank you so much Paul for all of it!

My personal paparazzi has about 8 billion pictures, give or take a few, I'll let her help pick out which ones to put up, but there are certainly plenty to share.

Great meeting everyone, very much look forward to the next one

Re: So Cal meet is ON!

As an introduction, Thursday23 knows his way around cars ,
A Service Manager at a Honda dealership for a decade, he and his lovely companion arrived from Arizona in time for the midnight-maintenance-meet on Friday night.

Thanks for helping with all the many loose ends on four of the cars we took to the meets on various days,
and for caring for the young adults around here,

We are happy that you two made the trip to California, and that you effectively put an end to your Californiaphobia

Re: So Cal meet is ON!

I have to jump in here with some more thanks to the indescribable Paul Dexler!!; for the incredible access that we were granted at both venues and guiding us past some genuine masterpieces, sharing his knowledge with tireless wit and enthusiasm. Our personal tour of the basement shops at the Petersen, with the Director of this premier Marque of Excellence in it's field, R.G.Messer, was a once in a lifetime experience, almost surreal in it's impact on the participants. Something I felt very profoundly in the presence of such mechanical excellence, snapping the camera ,peering into cockpit after cockpit, while hearing of his personal memories and experiences with some of the automotive giants.

I'd also like to thank the incredible car that brought us all together for such an exceptional get-together, and just another blessing I have be thankful for due to my "relationship" with the SVX!! This could be the start of a WEST COAST TRADITION!!!
Just back on line and had to let that go. Sorry...

Hey Glenn,
+1, seems like we went to fantasy land
Maybe we went down the yellow-brick road, and Paul is the wizard

Great to see that you have a keyboard at your fingertips
The SVX is alive West of the great divide
You have some catching up to do,

It's so true Ron!! The whole experience just resonates in my thought processes!! I was just reviewing the pics and was suddenly there again.
And lest we forget, David's fave and a Big hit with Gwen and I, were the mechanical marvels of the Nethercutt's music collection and the BIG HONKIN!! PIPE ORGAN!!!Well, it's heaven here in Ocean Beach this afternoon, hanging with my Lady. Good time to reflect a little on the many blessings we have, and be sure to share them with our friends, you sly RASCAL!!! LOL!!

The JDM threads are sure to keep you busy for a bit!! Have fun with that! And what a great break to benefit from Kit's photo expertise to showcase your two secret Beauties!! Thanks for sharing!!

We are definately going to do our best to get Nethercutt tickets for the 'silent movies' with the organ-providing drauma. For those that don't know, the Nethercutt has a complete floor with 'music machines', including the world's third largest theator organ. Would that be the right description, it is different than a 'church' organ, as the organ can produce nearly any sound. All grand movies theators of the day had someone on a pipe organ to provide the background sound for 'silent pics'. This floor was used to host 'Nethercutt' parties every Friday night for decades

Paul was definately the first person on our board to drive an SVX and fall in love, driving the first press-fleet SVXes to arrive Stateside, one week at a time . As an original 92 owner, I may rank second in that respect. Together, we wanted to plan a memorable event, though I must say, all the credit goes to him, the idea originated with him, the connections are his, in fact, this is his world. I was just a cheerleader with a plan to add a little spice

Remember, we didn't get a Nethercutt 'restoration shop' tour, too close to Pebble Beach show. The Nethercutt wouldn't risk letting out the 'secret' project(s) until show time . Afterall, that's why shows are organized.

Likewise, the JDMs were hoping to 'show', but where, how? Literally, permission is granted to import this model "because it is in the public interest" to Show or Display. Legal authority rests in the 'Show or Display' provision provided by Congress, [and Bill Gates, who wanted to import the first Porsche 959, a car that would sit in a Customs warehouse for 13-years before passage of law].

It wasn't certain that either JDM would make the Museum's meet. However, that was the mission that Paul and I had. Yes, Paul is a 'rascal' too , a co-conspirator. One of the main objectives in planning and in setting the right dates for the Museum's Meet was for the purpose of 'Show or Display' of the two JDM Alcyones .

Re: So Cal meet is ON!

Thanks to Paul Dexler for his unbelievable contributions to the success and grandeur of this event. You, sir, are an Olympian. Also, thanks to Glenn, Ron, and Dave. Without the Roseville get-together, and the subsequent work put in by these guys, I’m not sure this meet would have happened.

As for the weekend, Robin and I missed the Nethercutt, but had an absolute blast at the Petersen. The outdoor 3rd story Promenade SVX gallery was fabulous, and the owners - such a cool group of people. It was a pleasure meeting everyone. We look forward to seeing all of you again soon.
Thanks.

Darryl
