That ItalDesign badge looks FUBAR. The SVX carbon fiber stuff doesn't look too bad, but agreed, the SVX pre-dates and doesn't really lend to a lot of CF stuff. More of a chance for decency than the screwed up ItalDesign badge. |

Re: oh dear that is bad isnt it lmao
At the Petersen Museum, we have temporarily got loan of the FIRST Ital Design car, a Bizzarini. On the rear quarter panels, there is a badge which I think would look good on our cars. It is cast, and chromed. If someone could make an aluminum piece from it, it would be nice just behind the wheel arch in front.
Ideas? Paul

Re: oh dear that is bad isnt it lmao
That one's very classy Paul, but maybe too dated even for the SVX (usually people are trying to put mods on the car that look too MODERN ). Although if it was done in aluminum like you mention, it might update it and work on the SVX.
I like the one svxcess has: I think it's off a late model Maseratti but it blends with the SVX nicely. I have a couple these as all of us that attended the Mt. St. Helens drive last September got one. Not on my car yet though, I'm a badging minimalist.

I'm very partial to this emblem. It's from an Eagle Premier / Dodge Monaco which is from roughly the same time period as our cars.

Re: oh dear that is bad isnt it lmao
All these different Guigiaro emblems from different past production cars (even a Dodge) brings up a good question:
How come the SVX didn't come with one of its own?

Re: oh dear that is bad isnt it lmao
Gugario was a CONSULTANT on the SVX. The initial sketches were done in-house at FHI. Then they were sent to Ital Design for Gugario to refine them. Gugario was involved in the whole process, but wasn't responsible for the overall design. The design is clean enough for one of his, which is a credit to Fuji's design department. When they want to they can create beautiful things.
Had the SVX been a full on Gugario, I'm sure he'd have insisted on having the ItalDesign logo on it somewhere.

Re: oh dear that is bad isnt it lmao
Troy, you're right about the age of the logo I proposed. That was done in the '70s. And so far as shame, at Concourso Italiano in Monterey in 1995, Fabrizio Giugiaro told me that HE drove an SVX, liking it better than any other vehicles that had crossed through the family's business.
Yes, I love automotive history. Once I thought I was going to be a great hero car designer, and actually went to Art Center for two years. Then I discovered that I could write about cars a hell of a lot better than I could draw them, changed my major to journalism, and that's how I've been earning some sort of living ever since. I like the Dodge/Eagle emblem better than the Maserati one, it's cleaner and simpler. Next time I go to the Museum, I'll get a shot of the whole Bizzarini, and show where the emblem goes. And yeah, the car has pink gills. Paul

Crazyhorse, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't want to burst any bubbles but everything I read said he was consultant to refine the design.
I do wear my Gugario shoes to work though. Gene
