Angry Why our country is screwed

http://www.usdebtclock.org/
Get ready for the Second Great Depression.
Is it just me or a majority of Americans just do not care anymore or have we forgot that We The People truly have the final say in this matter?

I want free money! Actually I lost my job Wednesday, went straight to the unemployment office, filed, and got approved. I figured I am just getting some back for all the money I have been putting in for over 10 years. It's not like I won't look for another job, in fact I had been actively looking for a new job for almost a year (sucks up here in Michigan,) and I will continue to actively look. I want to be off this government assistance fast. I hate being a number...

Re: Why our country is screwed

My mom owns and runs a day care center. About half of the families she has are on state assisted funding and they all live very nicely and are able to afford nice newer cars. Its pretty ridiculous...

And by state assisted funding, I mean the moms spend about $50 a month on day care and the state picks up the other $600

There is a lot of that around here. I see people who have no jobs getting very nice electronics and stuff. You and I are the ones paying for it, though. Our secretary has state assisted childcare for her kids, yet she drives a Navigator, and is always bragging about her gigantic television and super-ultra cable service. It infuriates me.

They have free health insurance, too. I haven't been to see a doctor in 10 years. Two winters ago I was very very sick, and thought about going to see a doctor. After i found out how much it was going to cost, i decided not to go. I'm glad I didn't. I feel fine now.

EXACTLY!!! Its just more and more reasons why I want to move out of this country. Its all about the minorities who have 10 times more opportunities than the caucasion population. A few years back I got a pamphlet for scolarships to a college with about 30 different scolarships listed. I could only apply for 1 of them because I was neither a women nor a "minority". Its all a load of BS. They give handouts to people and yet those people are the ones who are always asking for more. This country is quickly being driven into the ground.

Alan, I am not defending Obama, to be quite frank I care less. But when someone scrwz the country, change is needed. I wish we can change the power of the parliament in our country, at least I would be living and working back home with my friends and family.

I am not defending Obama, his task is next to impossible in my opinion. Just give him the chance to rectify things.

The best and highly paid/safe countries in the world right now to work in are Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Just because you are American, you can get a minimum of $12,000 per month tax free. If you have an MBA with +12yrs of experience you should be aiming at 17~20K US/mo

All you folks who think people living on state assistance have got it made, why don't you quit your jobs and hop on the gravy train?

Morality? Self respect? Dignity?

After I was out of the service I was dumped at the front gate and told to have a nice life. I struggled finding a job where I was, and ended up working as a lathe operator for $9/hr, 14 hour days in a 100F factory with fiberglass particals everywhere from what I was doing. We made fiberglass pipes. I lost my job there due to a car problem and couldn't make it to work for 2 days. I went to the unemployment office and was denied for reasons they would not specify. A disabled vet with a wife and 2 kids to support, and I couldn't get any help to speak of. Not from the military, not from the state, not from the feds. They turned their back on me when I couldn't find a job and was on rough times, now that I have a job and am doing well, they're right back cramming their hands into my pockets to remove as much money as possible.

So much is wrong with this country, and I would love to move from it, but having kids and an ex-wife I am tied to where I am, for now at least. At some point it would be great, but not now.

I just started and I hate the thought that I have to do it, and I know I won't "have it made" but there are defiently some people out there who are abusing it and it is recockulous that the system can let that happen.

I don't want to be on assistance, but you gotta do what you gotta do to bring in any money you can. At least I'm not one of the mooches though that site on the nice new leather couch watching the nice new big screen lcd tv, I'm actually out looking hard, about 6 hours in person and 2 hours online a day, not including driving to other towns.

Characteristics way too many of us lack, unfortunately. And if this country is truly "screwed," maybe that's why.

If you look, i was answering someone's specific question as to why not quit their jobs and live off it.

The point is, the government should not be rewarding people to sit on their ass and collect checks, some even living better than those who go out and work their fingers to the bone. It's absurd, and as the topic suggests, why our country is screwed.
