Superu
I recieved an e-mail from my ex-boss today. He is an SVXer. I found it so interesting that I thought that I should share the pertinent portions with everyone.
<<<Larry Have you seen the red '95 on ebay? Looks pretty good....not sure what he was doing in the drivers seat!! Do you know the car? Was it at our tour? Have you been to Indy and back??? Send a report! Last week I had my trans flushed with one of those separate flush systems. It was done at the dealer. Although my fluid LOOKED more or less OK on the dip stick, it turned out that it was VERY DIRTY! The first thing they do is add a solvent and run car on lift in gear. The system then pushes out the old 16 liters (!!) and puts in fresh 16 L. After circulating through a filter it is done......normally. Mine was still very dirty. there is a test port to take samples of what is circulating and it was still bad. They showed me the crap that came out with the solvent.....river water! So I agreed to a second flush and fluid exchange, but without the solvent. Result was pure, clear fluid. Dealer said mine was worst they ever did. Car definetely runs and shifts beter. Jeanette said it seem like much better acceleration, probably less slippage. With all of that gunk gone the box should cool a lot better. Bottom line I recommend this service to all SVX owners, even when their fluid "looks" clean. Dealer recommends every 30,000 miles. I might go 50k but no more than that. Last item, I posted a message on SVX network. I received a message that there was a reply on the board but I still have problem navigating that board. where the hell are the replies??? Ken>>>>

Tranny Fluid Change
Hi all,
My brother owns a auto repair shop in mid Michigan (Flint). I was there this past weekend (1400 miles put on the SVX over the past 4 days) and had what sounds like the same Tranny service done. My brother has used this tranny fluid flush system for about a year and says it is a great way to swap out all the tranny fluid. It works like the previous post commented but I will try to give a few more details (I am no expert). Put about 1 pint of cleaner in tranny (thru dipstick) Run car, shift thru each gear a couple times Connect machine to tranny fluid line Disconnect one hose/pipe Connect machine in series with tranny fluid system Run car until all fluid is swapped, some how the machine knows this. There is also a window on the machine that shows the fluid coming from the car. The ATF machine is filled with fresh ATF. And the car actually pumps the old fluid out. While doing so there is a tank in the ATF machine that has a bladder so your car actually pumps the new ATF back into your car. Disconnect the machine Reconnect tranny fluid line Check fluid level, add to full. He gets ~$100 for the service. He said the company that sells the machine recommends the service every 15K or 30K miles (I forget which). He said to do whatever you are confortable but he would does his every 25K miles. We also did tires/brakes and one front CV axle, plus some other odds and ends while I was there. (Took advantage of my brother...made him work on the weekend!). I lost my front subaru emblem somewhere on the way to Michigan...I remeber something hitting the windshield pretty hard around Lansing...if any one finds it Drove mostly 75/80MPH and got 25 to 27 MPG. 92 SVX (silver) now has 107K miles. |

Hood emblems

Odd...mine came adrift just before the Meet. Maybe the glue has a ten year lifespan. Any other 92's out there that have lost your emblem? (replacing with the Japanese version doesn't count!) Don |

BG Tranny Flush
Here is the machine that was used
BG PF5 Power Flush and Fluid Exchange System http://www.bgprod.com/autodrive.html You can use any type of fluid you want according to them. Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with BG. The cleaner he put in was the "BG Quick Clean for Automatic Transmissions" (part No. 106) We also did a three part thing for the fuel system. http://www.bgprod.com/autofuel.html Used the thing on the top (Inject-A-Flush) Shot some stuff through the air intake and put some stuff in the fuel. I do not know how many of the fuel system cleanings my brother has done but he claims only one person has told him it did not make a difference in performance/fuel economy. That said, I have not noticed much of a difference (yet) on my SVX. Last edited by fourtaylor; 08-01-2002 at 08:21 AM. |

ATF change interval
Larry, when I had a complete rebuild done the tranny guy said to change fluid at 15,000. That's what I've been doing, anything to keep the tranny alive & well.
