I ran into a similar balancing problem in the game. I did the 'world classic car' series or whatever in 'professional events.' The pictured car is a Ghia, so I wasn't expecting any cars that were very fast. I took a '68 Honda S800 race car. I had no problem with any of the competition except for a Buick that beat me, in just two laps, by 24.8 seconds. So I brought out my Plymouth Super Bird, which I tuned a little. Instead of the Buick, the game throws in a 427 Cobra. Now, most of the races I can win, but not exactly easily. I win by 1-5 seconds. One of the races, though, is on the Nurburgring, and I have no choice but to concede it - the Cobra shrugs me off and wins by 30+ seconds.

But what's messed up is that the game only offers me one point for my troubles. Still, the only way I can reliably beat the Cobra is by qualifying first, and getting pole. But pole is easy to nail - on Laguna Seca I beat the Cobra by like eight seconds. When it comes time for the race, the thing spends both laps right on my ass.

As I said, balancing problems.

i also got smoked by the Cobra, so i said eff that, and brought out my '69 GT40. wasn't a race where i was really interested in the prize car or money - just wanted to complete it. usually i like a little more of a challenge, but in this case i didn't care.

This is going to sound dumb, but how come I've never seen qualify as an option? Is that not until later in the game?

You can qualify on races where practicing is an option. Every lap after your out lap is timed and your fastest one is your qualifying time.

I ran my first sub 7 minute run or nuremberg ring. I'm running the Opel Astra Touring car in the DTM series. Has anyone looked at 1000 miles! in the European series? 25 laps at Nuremberg, 99 at Cote D' Azure, etc.. OUCH! Should be in Endurance races. Plus side is 150k per race, 300k for series win. 900k if you have the time and patience.

i still can't get into the Extreme races with all races completed in Beginner and Professional.

i checked to make sure a bronze trophy wasn't hiding among the golds, but they all look like gold to me. WTF!?!?!?

almost done with the Rallys, just a few more dirt ones to go. why are the dirt rallys harder for me than the snow & ice ones?

With our luck Alan you'll probably need to complete the endurance events as well!!!! Anyone check out Speedster Cup for me in the Opel showroom? Like to know why I can't hang with the field in a maxed out Speedster Turbo.

i figured it out - i completed all the races individually in one of the series, but not the "Championship" , so i had to do them all again as a series. unlocked the Extreme Races, and working on them now.

haven't tried the Opel Speedster race yet.

BTW, i saw a guy that took a pic of his TV with all gold in every License test! what a sick freak!

I did that in GT3, well atleast up to IB. You got some decent cars by doing it. If you got all gold in B cup, you got a Miata, then I used the $10k to mod it, so I had a fast car right from the start. With GT4 giving you cars when you complete the license, I'm not sure you even get anything for all golds.

I'm at 46.4% complete with over 2.4 million in cash, and haven't cheated at all. What do you win at 50% complete? You got the C5-R in GT3. Speaking of C5-R, has anyone beat the American Championship? I tried with a maxxed out Camaro LM and got smoked.
