Have you found turn in to be easier without all the aids? I'm having trouble turning while braking into corners.

As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I found once I started disabling the aids in GT4. Turn-in became instantly easier. The traction and stability control are way, way too conservative. It would seem that in GT4, just as in real life, I am more capable of dealing with oversteer than understeer.

Pockets, do you turn the 3 aids to zero, or do you have a favorite setting?

Here are my 3 biggest gripes about GT4:
#1. Why do you win cars that can't be sold. Everything has SOME value, but you win something like the Hyundai HSC (that's totally useless) and it's worth ZERO!
#2. The 5 second penalty, although that has been mentioned here already. I have found a use for it in some situations, like at Grand Canyon, I go insanly fast into a hard corner, take the 5 second penalty, which then sets me up for the following turn. Seems like I can actually make up some time.
#3. Here's my biggest. The Speedster Cup. Just for the Opel Speedster and Speedster Turbo. I bought a Turbo, maxed out EVERYTHING possible, and I get left behind. Most of you know the A Spec points assigned to a race is based on perceived difficulty. Use a Z06 in FR and get only 1 point. The Speedster cup was like 200 or 250 points! Am I missing something? Will someone else please try this on thiers and let me know? Thanks.

I turn aids off completely on every car I remember to. Sometimes I can't remember and I roll my eyes at the screen every time I start a race and realize it.

I don't blame you for having gripes about the gameplay - I have plenty myself. GT4 actually isn't really a very good game. It's pretty (for a PS2 title) and the most accurate representation of actual driving you'll find on a console, but they don't seem to expend a lot of energy balancing and tuning the gameplay. I have a couple theories on why that's the case.

I don't know where the Speedster series is. Under Opel? I'll look tonight.

I actually have a 1:18 Opel Speedster on my desk here at work. It doesn't get a 'garage' space under my monitor risers, even though it lacks a roof.

their have been alot og worries about how gt4 would fair. the market has moved towards games like burn out, where you can crash the cars. their has to be a balance of simulation and fun, note that a real race wouldnt be fun for the average person (hot temps 8 hours long in the same position). also the lack of car damage could be a problem. we'll have to check out the sales figures.

ask your self is making a simulator a good premise for a fun game, look at ms flight sim. eventough the game is a sim the old titles had an archade feel that made the learning curve easy from what i hear its harder to jump in to this game.

'Worries' from whom?

On what do you base your 'market' research?

the "icons" documentry on g4 about the gt series and how Yamauchi was worried that the latest installment would be too realistic, compaired to burn out and the sort.

but then again what does he know. its not like he made the game or anything.

but i like to think of gt more as a car dictionary or carcyclopedia than a game.

I really like the game, I can't stop playing it. But the Speedster issue has me puzzled. Have to figure it out, or gameshark just that one and let me run the LM 350 in that series. I'm proud of myself for doing this legit this time. I earned all my own licenses and have over $1 million and am at 32.8% complete.

But you're making the leap from the developers' concerns to predicting trends in the marketplace.

We all have concerns like that about our games. It doesn't mean that we're predicting failure in every case.

You just need to state your opinions and conclusions more honestly.

I haven't had nearly that much time to invest in the game. That, and I'm still trying to keep up on my Halo time while also working on the MR2.
