Disgusted.. (and jealous)

I spent the weekend at UNH in Durham, NH visiting my girlfriend at her school. We went to visit some of her friends at a somewhat remote dormitory and while walking through the parking lot I spotted a black NSX. Now I immediately took two issues with the fact that there was an $80,000 sportscar parked at a $12,000/year college..

1) why can't _I_ have enough money to afford a $30,000 used car???

and 2) who the #*% drives an NSX in New Hampshire in JANUARY?!?!?!

honestly..

but it looked REALLY good.. I love those cars.. Shame they've only got 6 pistons.. Can anyone tell me the displacement?

who and why???

EASY ANSWER!!!!

It belongs to the parent of one of those lucky folks who gets to go to the $12000 university.

Incidently, even in Canada, our cheapest universities seldom cost any less that $12000/yr

Otherwise, just some rich kid but kids don't usually wind up with NSXs, they get a bigger staus bang out of a Porsche for the guys or a Benz for the gals.

Adam,

The NSX is not the car for me.

I couldn't afford to fix it.

i agree with solar, or you could just get 5 SVXs and add a lil power to one... 80K can be spent in many other nicer ways than on an honda....

I've always liked the NSX, and I think trying to calculate value by dividing the price by the horsepower is a little...flawed.

Although, while I think the NSX is timeless in its current form, it needs new packaging for people to think that the car is 'worth it' again.

I have not yet driven an NSX, (I think few people here have) but I have heard wonderful things about their handling characteristics.

Come on - it's nearly 300hp, aluminum and reliable.

pockets i love the looks and the car dont get me wrong.. i just think for a exotic car it should have exotic hp. especially at 80,000 for that much u can almst get a porche 911 twin turbo or a lotus espirit twin turbo. v8

see the pic,

210 torque is nothing. thats the things with hondas and vtec they get the hp but no torque it takes both.

A friend of mine from High School has an early model NSX. Even with over 120,000 miles, it is still very tight, and runs great. It is a very fun car to drive, but most of that fun comes from the stares you get by others on the road.

You don't have to get defensive. That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it.

I just noticed that you didn't think that the car was worth the money because of its power (or relative lack thereof), and I wanted to point out there there are other factors besides the horsepower or torque ratings. You own an SVX, so obviously you know what I'm talking about.

You're combining data for different models. The 3.0 is 252 HP/210 ft-lbs. The 3.2 is 290 HP/224 ft-lbs.

There's more to performance than just HP/torque numbers. Keep in mind that the car weighs 3200 lbs or less, depending on model, and has a 6-speed manual on the 3.2.

It's a little like the SVX - designed to be a comfortable touring car, not necessarily an all-out racer. I think also that the level of refinement of an NSX is considerably higher than the Supra.

Look at it as the car the SVX would like to be.

Aluminum, my dear Watson....

Well, nearly 300hp in a light car can create a quick ride.

Does anyone have the 0-60/0-100/braking/skidpad stats on the NSX? Don
