thumping on acceleration

My wife usually drives the car so I havent noticed anything until i drove it this morning. It has always binded taking off in turns and maybe this has been happening too just havent payed attention. When under throttle it kinda seems like i am going across strips on the road. it like a "thump...thump..thump". Kinda like strips across the interstate, nothing hard or anything. Anyone had this happenen?

Re: thumping on acceleration

Also could be a worn carrier bearing on the main driveshaft. (replaced my driveshaft this summer for this)

is it happening in straight line or cornering acceleration?

Re: thumping on acceleration

Straight line but also does make a lot of noise pulling out in a turn. I never thought of a carrier bearing or cv. I dont know a lot about svx's but i have had a lot of cv's go out and they always click pulling out in a turn. This thumps loudly pulling out in a turn. I just thought it was the binding these cars have. I put some limited slip treatment in it last year and it seamed to help the loud thumping some. I also drove the figure 8's and that helped. Never noticed the light thumping in a straight line. I can be running like 40 and give it gas (especially under a load, like up a hill) and it will do the light thumping (like the interstate strips where the pavement goes toghether.

Re: thumping on acceleration

I just ran to walmart and go a fuse and put it in to make it FWD and all the noises are gone. The car drives like a new one. I am going to have the differetials serviced with new grease and change the tranny fluid and put some limited slip additive and have them check the carrier bearings. Man, these cars ride and drive soooo good, they are planted to the road. I know the front tires wont last long with that fuse in place! Haha, just kidding, but it will roast them off but i dont drive like that anymore.
