1997 Svx Rear Diff/driveline???????

So im getting this shuddering/vibration under acceleration always low speed and during cornering.
Feels like its coming from under the seats.

Had the driveline inspected no fault found

Had the lube fittings serviced on u joints that tomsvx hooked me up with.

Replaced the solenoid C

Still vibrating/shuddering

Removed the fuse to disable the AWD and the problem goes away???

Any known shops in California that can troubleshoot/Rebuild this system???

Thank you in advance

^ when you say removed the fuse, you mean added the fuse right? fuse in FWD spot = FWD, fuse out means AWD.

Re: 1997 Svx Rear Diff/driveline???????

When you say driveshaft inspected and OK, do you include the center-bearing? Sounds very suspicious.

Re: 1997 Svx Rear Diff/driveline???????

I had a similar issue with my 1997 Outback a few years ago. The center differential was binding. It is most evident when taking a hard turn into a parking space. I had my mechanic flush the ATF and replace with fresh ATF plus a bottle of Lubegard (red bottle). If you catch it early enough you won't have destroyed the clutch plates and the friction modifier in the Lubegard will get the plates working near normal again. The problem went away and hadn't returned as of 40K miles of additional driving.

Do you need the stock ratio, I could send you one in good condition, just the pinion gear and ring gear with lsd carrier. Shipping on it would not be very much. PM me an offer if you're interested.

Edit: also, see if anyone nearby might have one.

If you're anywhere near Sacramento, try Joe at Subaru Specialists. He's always treated us right.

Re: 1997 Svx Rear Diff/driveline???????

I thought the rear diff was bullet-proof. I was told that the tranny and front diff were the ones to worry about.
