Re: Aftermarket trunk strut preference

You should take it off and weigh it.. It's honestly not heavy.

This was covered a while ago.. I'm still looking for the total weight on the trunk but I think I remember YT posting it a while ago as well..

Mine did seem to get a bit heavier every year. Hence... new struts!

Re: Aftermarket trunk strut preference

I figured I'd vote for stronger aftermarket ones but I don't want it to be like wrestling a bear to the ground each time I want to shut my trunk.

Did you read my previous post? We can specify the spring rate needed inside the strut...

Yeah I did but normally when you give someone options, its everyone wanting something different. Odds are that the ones chosen (if they ever were) would be the ones that would rip holes in your trunk. I'm a pessimist like that..

Re: Aftermarket trunk strut preference

Stronger struts or ones with an unconventional throw length are bad juju. Ask anyone who's seen my trunk.

Stick with what we've got, or we'll be writing up the Trunk Fix Mod.

They are really not heavy at all, but the pivot point makes it feel heavy.

Have you ever lifted a trunk not on the SVX? they're not exactly heavy... The struts being bad make it hard to lift because the struts themselves are causing more "restriction".

Again, I say stock powered struts.

Re: Aftermarket trunk strut preference

would is be possible to use a windscreen wiper motor with speed controlling something or other to remotely lift the trunk or even just a button to go up n down like some newer cars have ?

Not sure the button makes the trunk go up n down

Button probably completes a circuit to a power device that moves the trunk up or down...

Keith

However, that would be though
