New U.K. owner
Hi,
I've already posted this in the main forum but having seen that another SVX owner is based in Portsmouth and I live in Lovedean just north of Portsmouth I thought I should just introduce myself. Does anyone know the part number for the gators that go over the CV joints as I have a small split in one and I might as well buy all four just in case. I have a JDM early silver with 4WS and 81,000 kilometres on the clock. |

Re: New U.K. owner
Hi DJW, welcome to the forum.
The "Version L" 4WS car is the highest spec SVX ever produced. With such low mileage, I'm sure yours is absolutely beautiful. Got any photos? Phil.

Re: New U.K. owner
Yes it was a grade 4 fresh import overall its very good just one or two scratches which the guy who does bodywork for me is going to sort. I was after the silver with black roof/bonnet and dark grey lower panels and when I saw this one I had to buy it at £2800 including road tax etc. It needs a gator replacing which once I've sourced will get done, is that a fairly straightforward job or should I advise the guy who is going to do it of any pitfalls?
Many thanks Is uploading pictures to this forum an easy task? |

Re: New U.K. owner
That's interesting you were after the three tone. That's the colour my one has:
Sorry for the poor image quality. Because it is in England since I got it, I have never had a chance to take some decent pics. It has larger than standard wheels because it has larger than standard brakes. It also has a supercharger installed, but is running at only 4lbs until I do some more engine work on it. What colour did you actually get? Ebony? White? Pics would be nice. To answer your question it is easy to post pictures here. The normal way is to upload them to something like Picasa, a photo album, then you copy the link to the post you are making and Voila!, we can see your motor and drool! Joe

Re: New U.K. owner
Dumb. I should read all through the posts. You have a Liquid Silver car. Please excuse my silly question. I actually prefer the two tone over the three tone, but I can see it is attractive. The lower dark panels slim the car down in profile. If you are ever near Taunton I'll give you Graham's number so you can see the three tone. Joe

We are in the process of decoding what the option codes and trim codes and so on mean. To that end people are giving us information in the registration forum. Earl [ensteele] is compiling a chart for this information. When we have enough different types in the database we will be able to draw conclusions on what the Subaru plate codes may mean. If you browse around the How To section, you will find charts there listing the paint codes for various years and markets. Your 215 indicates the three-tone silver which was Japanese market only. It would be a great help if you enter your details into the template on this page: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...t=44145&page=2 Copy and paste the template on post #28 into a new reply. Then change the details in red to suit the details of your car. What's of interest is matching up what options your car has, such as airbags and cruise etc with the listed code, in your case DVC. This way we will decipher what the option codes refer to for each market. Thanks Joe.

Re: New U.K. owner
According to the seatbelts it is 1991. I had four new Toyo T1 R's fitted yesterday (I have these fitted to my 380 bhp RX7 and rate them) and can confirm its 4WS. Also has cruise, 12 cd Subaru badged but Panasonic stereo no sunroof and navy blue leather it appears to be registered in 93 should I post it in the 93 register?

Wow! Navy blue leather. Thus far we have never seen navy blue leather. If your assessment of the colour is correct, then yours is a first. Is there any possibility that the blue tint bar over the windscreen is casting a shade of colour on your seats and hiding the underlying colour? I say this because most people perceive the leather upholstery that we have seen thus far to be black, although many maintain that it is grey, which also is feasible if you accept it as an exceptionally dark grey. If it's genuinely Navy Blue, please provide us with a photo, it will be one for the archives. Joe

Re: New U.K. owner
I'll take some photos, because there is a little bit of crazing on the leather side bolster I bought a black leather repair kit only to find it a real mismatch so only did a tiny patch, so I had some navy blue shoe polish and it blended in perfectly followed by some chelsea beeswax and hey presto perfect. It could of course be faded balck but I'm 99% sure its navy blue leather.

Re: New U.K. owner
Thank you. We all here this side of the water anyway would love to see pictures of your motor.
Over in the US they have never seen a CXD [and at one time fought tooth and nail to deny the possibility of their existence! ], but here in RHD land we love them. If you are used to a 380hp RX7 you will find the SVX quite leisurely, it's a smooth GT rather than a sports car. Best advice I can give you is to leave so-called "Power Mode" permanently on using the button on the gearchange console. The green light in the centre below the clocks will light up. This sharpens up the gearbox response making kickdown a little quicker and so on. Joe

Re: New U.K. owner
The RX7 is a completely different experience, I bought the SVX because my business takes me sometimes 60 miles from my base over 3 months at a time and I'm getting too old to do it daily in my Ford Transit despite it being quite new with aircon etc. Instead of buying a new faceless car I thought right lets buy some nice interesting cars which I've always liked instead and I read an american test report when the SVX first came out and was impressed. previously I have run an Isuzu Vehi-Cross a Pajero Evolution so i'm a bit of a Jap car nut. Can you run the SVX on normal unleaded or is it better on V-Power.

The Japanese ECU in your car is tuned for 100 octane petrol in Japan. Best to run it on VPower. I use Super unleaded plus an octane booster. I find I get the cost of the booster back because the car does better mpg while not driving with ignition retarded all the time. Joe
