still ugly, and they are a big b!tch compared to the last model.

i'm actually looking for something smaller for my next car, to better slice through traffic on my commute.

Re: New Legacy might just grow on me

I did say "might" Alan. Initial reactions are hard to change, and the TV ads have made me cringe.

Re: New Legacy might just grow on me

Have yet to see one in person, but being a Legacy nut for many years, I'm not looking forward to it. Granted, with exception of the last design it has taken some time for most Legacies to grow on me, but this newest redesign is just taking it too far. In fact, if anything this one may just be the one that turns me into an Impreza fan after all these years.

Is anyone else confused by the new trend in bigger cars? I thought we were trying to create more economical, smaller vehicles these days, yet vehicles are getting bigger and bigger every day. The newer mid-sized pickups are bigger than the older full size ones, and the same can be said for a lot of mid sized cars too.

Altimas and Corollas are now the size that Maximas and Camrys used to be. big fat people and their big fat kids with their 30 cupholders for their sugary drinks.

i'm feeling irritable and stabby right now, can you tell?

Funny you say that about the Altima and Maxima. When they came out with the last body style (04 I think) I wondered what the hell the difference is anymore and is it really necessary to have both of them

Re: New Legacy might just grow on me

subaru had an event here in denver and we got to drive some of the new subies. corey drove the new legacy 2.5i and liked it, but said it had less oomph than his 2.4L optima. i drove the new 3.6r and liked it a lot. seemed much more comfortable than my LGT was so i may have to consider one when the smoke clears.

I am slowly going to start ditching my collection to get one. The SVX and BRAT will not leave my ownership, but the 92SS and the 83 GL is fair game to go.

Re: New Legacy might just grow on me

If you had said 5MT sedan, I would consider trading my GRP for a forester slogger, and a VERY nice SVX... or the cash to get those.

But a wagon... That is going to be a bit of a tall order.

Re: New Legacy might just grow on me

Maybe if they'd chop a foot off the top and another off the bottom, then we could talk. As is it's taller than some SUVs. I understand this is all just for crash test ratings, but one thing I've always loved about Subaru is that the boxer motor allows for very low belt lines, high clearance, and low center of gravity. The new Subees have an extra 24" of plastic above and below the engine making them look like any other Camry/TL and other I4 powered cars. I'm imagining the space between the manifold and the hood being enough for another bench seat, with more headroom than our back seats.

I'm a die hard Subaru fanatic, and will always stay that way, but I haven't been a huge fan of any of their new GIGANTIC redesigns. Maybe if it looked a little more like this:

Otherwise, I'll stick with the '80s '90s Subees where ugly had a purpose. These are just ugly for ugly's sake.

Re: New Legacy might just grow on me

More like Camry cargo trunk, Altima rear bumper and side and BS front.

Seriously the headlights are bigger than the tyres
