Tell whoever replaced the transmission...

to come get it, take it back to the shop, and put it back together right.
You shouldn't have to mess with it!!! Then tell him goodbye!!
(just a suggestion)

In that case, ask him if he'd be willing to foot the bill for you to send it to a shop that knows what they're doing. If you want to sugar coat it, you can say a shop that knows SVXs really well. If he's a long-time friend, he might just go for it.

that ground wire is not for the engine controls. You could leave that disconnected all day without issue. What you need to check is the larger ground terminal that attaches to the top driver's side bellhousing bolt that seconds as the top starter bolt. This needs to be firmly attached... Also, do you have a battery tie down??

I would suggest...

finding a how-to on removing and reinstalling a transmission and check out the list to try to find out what has been left undone, carefully checking connectors that might not be secure but could look like it.

I do have a battery tie down. I'll look for the tranny how-to's and check out all the conections. also I noticed that there are 2 hoses on the top of the tranny after the bell housing that go nowhere. I cant see anywhere for them to go. Are they just supposed to go nowhere or do they have to be connected to anything?

Is there anyone that lives close to biddeford Maine and knows the car that may want to come by and give me a hand?

Those hoses are vents and are supposed to go nowhere.

The going over the bump parts is tipping me off to a loose connection somewhere. You said you were sure that the big ground that mounts to the starter and the bell housing was connected AND the positive terminal to the back side of the starter was hooked up too right?? What about the ground from the battery to the chasis just in front of the battery?? That is secured as well??
