question about our engine
Well I was just wondering if you could use the 2.2 liter hybrid weisco pistons on the svx with 2.5 liter length rods or am i totally out there. A forum i used to frequent said this set up would work but you guys seem a little more inteligent then the other forum . So im just looking for a cheap way to bore and stroke while lowering the compression ratio of our engine if thats not too much to ask.

I guess i need to word my question better first off:
1 will ej25 rods fit the svx crank? 2 whats the block height of the svx? 3 are the bores the same between the ej22 and the svx engine? That about sums it up any info would be appreciated. Last edited by tubbstcg; 05-10-2008 at 10:03 AM. |

I can't answer your questions, but I can tell you i'll be ordering the EJ22T Wiseco's in acouple weeks. Along with Eagles H-Beam rods.
I've got a set of stock EJ22T pistons and conrods and can get ahold of a Wiseco piston and Eagle conrod (a friend with a Bugeye is building his motor) I can get you measurements off them. I cant get you measurements for an SVX piston and conrod because I havent tore my motor down yet. Dustin

Ecutune sell forged pistons and rods that will fit.

They also plan to stop selling the engine components seperatly soon. I'm just looking to get nice built internals (for a decent price) and open more doors for us. Dustin

I know ecutune has internals but the reason y im trying to get the wiseco are that they will stroke/bore the engine i think.

I think for that you're gonna have to look more at a custom crank.

The stroke and bore are identical to an EJ22. Now the differences are in the pistons and the heads. The EG33 pistons have a raised portion which increases the CR above a 2.2. We (meaning a couple of us on the board) crunched the #'s and did measurements. There is a reason LAN contracted CP to make the pistons for our engines instead of using the much cheaper alternative of 2.2l pistons. Even the 9.5:1 2.2l pistons would drop an EG33 down to 8.0:1 CR which is too low for what most people want to do. The Eagle H-beam rods can be ordered through Eagle, just make sure you ask them to give you a weight matched set of 6. The crank and piston pin bores as well as rod length are identical to the 2.5 and 2.2l's

well what im trying to do is to drop the compression ratio down to 8.5 and stroke it out as much as possible

"well what im trying to do is to drop the compression ratio down to 8.5 and stroke it out as much as possible"
As Dustin said, if you want to stroke it then you need a crank too.

why will i need a crank tom said the differences were the heads and pistons???

You can't change the stroke of a motor unless you change the stroke of the crank. So you need to have a stock crank welded and ground to make this happen. $$$

well if what i am talking about is not the stroke then i mean the swept volume sry i know what im trying to get at i just dont have much experience... still a noob

He is still right. Your swept volume will change slightly with a bigger bore but w/o a stoker, not much will change

oh well the ej22 scene just uses the longer ej25 rods in oreder to obtain a .15 increase in liters? im not expecting huge gains just a little more displacement
