*...Outside temp gauge?...*

I am heading up on tuesday to eugene to pick up my first SVX. I'm very excited!!! Heres the link to what I bought. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9202&rd=1&rd=1 Anyway's i noticed on the specs sheet on the internet it says that it has an outside temp. sensor. Where does that display? Any other helpful tips for a new SVX owner would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ken

Ken, welcome to the network!

The outside temperature display is located in the same black plastic disc which is part of automatic climate control. When the OUTSIDE TEMP button (located to the left of the fan speed buttons) is depressed, the outside temp flashes and is displayed for 5 seconds. This works whether the climate controls are on or off.

Sensor is located behind the front bumper.

I second that.

Welcome Ken!!

That outside temp thing is pretty useful if you live in a region where frost occurs.

Ken, it looks as though you will be in the market for a new windshield. Check out the ones on eBay, a great price even after adding shipping. Get with a good glass shop and order one shipped to them, then have them install it for you. It will be a slightly different color from the original but it will work just fine and a lot cheaper than the $1K plus others are asking. One other thing for your info, the color shown on the car is not true (probably a lighting and camera flaw). It will be closer to a true maroon, much less purple than it appears in the pictures. It looks like a good car that somebody has loved. You do the same.

Don't have the A/C charged without checking for leaks. That is the only reason why it's low on refrigerant. Do it right the first time and good luck with the car!

Thanks for welcoming me. I am a subaru lover at heart. My wife and I just got an 07 outback 2.5 XT on friday, and I have a mint 84 subaru Brat with 100k on it. It has a 2.2 ltr in it mated to a 5speed DR, and 3inch lift, rear disks, and a couple other mods, but you wouldnt know it from the outside besides the lift and pugeot wheels. I have looked at the SVX for a long time and just finally decided to take the plunge. I have never even driven one yet, so I'm not sure what to expect.....that might sound crazy that I would buy something I havent even driven, but I have been viewing this boards for a while, and from what I've heard, there a great car to have. Thanks for your info. Its gonna be hard to sleep for the next couple of nights before I go up and get it on Tue morning.

When I bought my first I'd never even seen an SVX up close. Yes, they are indeed great cars to drive. Hope it works out well for you.

Welcome Ken, You are definately in for a treat because it drives like no other car you've probably ever driven! If you cant sleep waiting to go get it , wait till its sitting in the driveway and your wife wants to talk, watch a movie, and you want to be working on your car! LOL, it gets interesting at home! (cept i'm the wife with the SVX here!) GOOD LUCK!

Ha Ha Ha, so I'm not the only one!!

Most people buy a CD or DVD off the internet for their first on-line purchase.

My first on-line purchase was my SVX.

From Japan!!

I could not wait to get it. I had never seen one till I saw my own at the docks.

It was worth the wait and the trouble, I'd do it again. In fact, I just have done it again.

Welcome to the Brat&SVX club. Not too many of us around that I'm aware of... Subafreak is the only other one I can think of off hand.

Yours sounds great
My Non Mint 86 needs some rust repair this winter, I plan to do the SPFI upgrade also this year and probably upgrade to an EJ in another year or so... I don't plan on lifting her though. What trans are you running?? Did you keep the DR4spd with an adapter plate? Or use an EJ 5spd??

I don't recognize the name from USMB??

I'm bakerman1 on the usmb boards to. I am running the EA82 5speed Dual range, and let me tell you, my Brat is so much more fun to drive than it ever was. I think stock it had 79HP, and with the EJ22 it went up to 135HP. I think the motor only weighs about 75lbs more than the original so it scoots pretty good. My mom lives in a apartment we made above the garage and she has a 85 subaru brat. so between all of us(My 84 Brat, My soon to to get, tomarrow, 92 SVX, My wifes 07 Outback 2.5 XT, and My moms 85 Brat) I would say we have a hankern for subarus. The only vehicle not of subaru decent is a 89 Chevy 1 ton Plow truck that I use for snow removal in the winter and trash, gravel, and misc stuff in the summer. Thanks again for welcoming me to the boards. I will report tomarrow on my drive down from Eugene. Tonights gonna be a hard sleep........

And to add to what John mentioned, here's a pic of the temp being displayed on an SVX.
