Started building a new project

The body (whats left of it) is a 1917 Dodge Brothers Touring Sedan. Not sure yet if I just want to use the front or use the back bucket and weld it to the front cowl so I can have suicide doors. The frame is from Speedwaymotors.com I am ordering a spring behind front axle and the rear coil over set to mount the rearend this week. Hoping to have a rolling frame soon. Rearend is a 411 posi out of a 69 Nova. Also have a 69 350 that needs a rebuild. Well anyway, here is the start of my new rod in the making.

Ya going to build a "Rail Job" like the one in Hollywood Nights? If you havent seen it, I recommend you do. It's like Porky's, only with a bunch of really sweet cars.

Man

Thats an old movie. Yeah I remember it. I'm old too. lol

Well unless the SVX throws a wrench into my plans, I should have the front axle assy along with spindles and disk brakes in the mail soon. I'm hoping to have a rolling chassis in a month here. Will keep posting pictures for those of you that are interested.

From the pics it looks like you need to work that body a bit, but atleast the rust hasn't killed it. Is it gonna be a ratrod or are you going for bling?

Looks like a lot of fun. I wish I could take on a rod project, but I never know when I'm gonna pack up and run. I know I'm losing my nice big garage in the fall

anyway, Good luck!

Well

I'm doing a nice Rat Rod. Wont be lots of chrome because it's way to spendy. I'm trying to make this as cheap as possible. Sofar I have this in it:

175.00 for the frame
tires and rims have been in my barn for 3yrs from a barter deal
body was free, about 40.00 in gas and ½ a day to get it out of the field
traded a wide tire kit for a Harley for the 411 posi and 300.00 so I guess right now I'm about even. I already have a 350 that needs to be freshened up and that was a freebee after I found a stoker and help get it out of the car and in my cousins.

I ordered front behind spring axle, spindles and disc brake kit along with rear links and coil over shock kit. That is about 1400.00 The tin that I need to weld into the body is coming from the parts 85 XT I have. and whatever else I can use out of it like maybe the bucket seats. So I guess it may have to be registered as a 1917 DXT Bucket.

Chrome don't get you home!! Some of my best 'creations' had no chrome at all!! I built my 47 Dodge pu for under $1000. and have driven it over 100K in the last 20 years! Had it over to visit svxfiles last nite!!

Well

Thats 548.00 worth of parts right there. lol
They back ordered my front axle and spindles and the rear tires are not here yet either. Thats ok thou, I have to cut leaf spring perches and a couple other brackets off the rear end housing before I can start mounting my panbar and shocks. Wish I had a plasma cutter. Chop saw wheel on my hand grinder here I come.

I know I would have...

admit it, you've already put the stool in there and made the vroom noises thinking of all the places you'll be taking it to show off... the lake, the bar, the drive in.

...vroom vroom. Looks good.
