I own both a Mk1 MR2 and an SVX. I've had the SVX longer, but admittedly I probably know the MR2's handling more intimately since I autocross it.

They're entirely different cars. The SVX has considerably more power and torque (the latter being a foreign concept to the Mk1 entirely), but it's jut not as nimble as a Mk1. The SVX also has a much larger trunk, and two more seats. It's made for highway cruising, a task the MR2 hardly excels at.

I enjoy both cars, each for different reasons. Picking one to live with on a daily basis, if you can't have both, depends on your personal situation. Both are getting pretty old, but the MR2 has the SVX beat for reliability any day - if for no other reason than it's much less complicated. Again, that's just speaking from personal experience. My MR2 is my preferred daily driver, but that's largely due to my very, very short commute. If I had to spend any significant time on the freeway, I'd take the SVX.
