SO why do we pay upwards of $600 for this pos excuse of a suspension mod?

Is it so awesome we should be obliged to tear apart perfectly good oem struts?

But it's just an insert, not even a complete strut. The least Koni could have done is offer a complete strut.

Welcome to the world of getting ripped off....

I agree that a how-to with pics would really help a lot of people. I've been putting off suspension mods because of not wanting to rip into the SVX too deep right now. But with the 6MT coming late this summer I might have to use some extra $ on the side to atleast get some springs.

I'll do a how to when I do them with pics and everything. It is going to be a couple of months though.

I happen to be driving my '92 Ebony on a set of four perfectly bad oem struts. The only suspension I currently have is my springs. For me it's a good option. Some day I'll get around to installing the ones I bought from TomsSVX.

I do understand your concern of chopping into a good set. You could probably buy a bad set from someone who is parting out a car.

The only bolt-in ones I know of are the ones from Dayle at MotorSport, only about $2900 depending on the Yen/USD conversion:

Why make a full body strut? Then I would be cutting and welding on a Koni housing to install Ground controll coilovers. Which would officially suck because I would prob blow the strut before it even got into the car. The konis are worth every penny, don't like it, don't buy it. You didn't get ripped off because you didn't buy anything

Koni should have come up with a full SVX solution, and we shouldn't have to pay with our first born to get it.

The entire SVX community is who has been ripped off.

That's what I don't like.

You can bet your ass I'll still do what I have to do to get a better suspension.

I don't understand the large anti-cutting feeling. If you look at old VWs and other cars the front struts were insert style. So us lopping the top off a worn strut and putting a new insert in isn't that unheard of.Hell, if I had an extra $600 right now I'd have Konis.
Special mock up is something you have to come to accept with this car. We got left behind with the aftermarket and its up to us to make our own aftermarket. Hell, I've been trying to get some CAM core for like 3-4 months now so I can get some more agressive cam profiles. But I'm still here without cams. But this car is worth it, it's worth every moment spent scraping parts and know how.
If you want something easy to mod, get a honda or MK IV VW.

$6-700$ isnt that expensive for better handling!!! i cant wait tell they stock up. little bit of custom cuts isnt to shabby. =] but that is my opinion. when u drive around with 4.44 and bad struts it sux!!! especially in california. especially san fran bay areas roads. it isnt a freeway unless it has pot holes, bumps, cracks, warpage in it!!! it sux!
