I'd somehow agree... I can't think of any better reasons...

How could a running SVX catch fire? Unless the owner really never takes care of the engine compartment. Dirty, leaky.....etc.

True story:
Years ago, maybe 5, my friend told me a story that he saw that in person during a traffic jams. In the traffic jams, all cars were driven so slow. There's one guy threw his cigar butt on the street, the old car behind drove by slowly and it's some serious oil leak. At the same time, the oil leak just touched the cigar ......fire, fire, fire, just happened like that.

Nowadays, if I am driving behind a car that the driver threw the cigar butt, I aint happy. I will try to avoid that and use my either front tire to put off the light (sometimes I'm that accurate) even I know my cars have no oil leaks problems. One of the Pre-Safe driving tips was added to my driving skills since then....

back when i was hunting for an SVX there was a parts car on ebay that had had a pretty big fire under the car. It made me question if i really wanted a car that had the possibility but i decided the risk of fire was worth the beauty of an SVX. Until this one i'd never heard of another that had caught on fire.

Well i'm going out the check my oil lines. (Nah, i know she doesnt leak).

Can you tell i dont like fire?

alt mod

Personally the way I have seen some alternator mods done, this could start an electrical fire. The car I just bought has those big cables drapped over the top of the engine with no other protection than the insulation. There are flat spots in the insulation.

One of the first things I am going to fix.

My positive cable came loose on my alt and started a fire. I saw smoke coming out from my hood and stopped QUICK. Here is what I saw.

I few new wires, new alternator an I was good to go.

The funny thing is my roomates 91 civic caught on fire today in a dunkin donuts parking lot. He had just replaced the starter himself and I think that he botched something up.
