Lord Ive created a mudslingin contest lol

MB has made SUV's for quite a while. The original G-wagon was military spec just like the Jeep was. And no GC was EVER made by AMC. The Grand Cherokee has always been a chrysler product. The only thing Chrysler has going for itself is using Mercedes platforms into spin-off wannabe luxury and wannabe muscle cars. At least MB has the last say in the HP arena. Lets see that SRT-8 300C/Charger/Magnum keep up with an E55AMG.

Then again Ford is using Volvo as well... the Fusion, Freestyle, and Five Hundred are ALL on Volvo platforms.

And when is GM going to kill Saab... who the hell drives a Saab anyway?

I need to ask something, wasn't the H1 made by AMC? I think I heard that somewhere like million years ago

Yeah the H1 was AM General and the ONLY true Hummer. The H2 is a scantily clad mock up of a hummer sitting on a robust Suburban chassis, straight rear axle and all.

Over dressed suburban? Wish the H3 came with an optional diesel mostly based on a downsize GM truck platform I know, but built to go offroad I cand wait till the yuppies get bored with them and sell 'em cheap so I can take it to the Rubicon and smash the poopie out of it

H2's and H3's were made to allow people with shallow wallets who want to THINK they own a hummer... then they think theyre invincible and get stuck in a parking lot puddle

If ya want a hummer then dish out the bucks... dont shoot for 50 grand for a mock up that can get passed offroad by a Volvo.

1 - I don't like the "wannabe" Hummers any more than you.

2 - I agree they are designed more with appearance in mind than actual performance, as evidenced by their hardly "off-road-minimalistic" interiors.

That being said, both the H2 and H3 do just fine off road. Great tires, great ground clearance, full underbody protection (skid plates, reinforcers, etc) and excellent approach and departure angles make for a very survivable vehicle. They are a bit clumsy though, and surprisingly not as nimble as an H1, despite being significantly smaller.

I however would buy a Tahoe or Suburban Z71 over an H2 or H3 if I had any offroad intentions and the need for that kind of vehicle.

Yup, the H2 and H3 were both marketed for yuppies with shallow wallets. I took the H3 out for a test drive several months back and got passed by a kid on a bike so they suck on road, barley the power to keep up on the freeway, although the low end torque of the I5 combined with the low final drive gear ratio mean it is properley set up for off road, and while it may not be as nimble offroad (not a definate, it does have 20 years of devolopment on the H1) it is small enough to fit where the H1 never could. Besides, driving an 8 foot wide truck really keeps you (me) on my toes, I like it, however I gotta keep extra thought on how wide I am in tight spaces. I wouldn't knock an H3 driver who takes it offroad, but the H2... as far as instability, is that in comparison to other stock SUVs or other lifted SUVs? It does have a fairly wide stance, and when I drove it I didn't find it unstable past what I would expect from a similar vehicle of another marque. It does what it does quite well, but gains a bad name for its self among people who think because it is not marketed as what it really is because it wouldn't sell well enough, I wouldn't want one to drive arround every day with that power or stigma, but to the best of my knowledge only that and the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon are really set up for off road from the factory, and I believe GM offers a pickup with the same off road package as the H3, but not a Chevy/GMC downsize SUV
