Yeah a turn might let the vette gain a car length or so. Must be a sad sad day that an upscale pony car is running with GM's prized sports car.

Hopefully it doesn't cost as much as "GM's prized sports car"

I don't think that new Cobra will be cheap at all.

i'm sure the new cobra will be close in price to the Vette. I dont' care too much for any Ford or Chevy though, To me, Mustangs lost any credibility when they became 85 hp soccer mom cars. Even with the "redesign" I think that it is nothing more than an attempt to take a shot at the mid-life crisis market, people who want to relive their past. But to each his own, if you like it, then keep liking it

I rented a mustang when my SVX got totaled. Of course, this was a basic model, and not a GT, etc. But it did have an "8".

The power was reasonable, but the interior looked extremely plastic and cheap. I wasn't impressed at all. The stereo had about the same sound quality as they did back in the 70's. And it wasn't that great then.

The interior gives the Mustang a resounding 2 on a 10 scale. It's horrible.

the main reason why i'd never own one is that i see 20-30 of them on the way to and from work.

i guess we'll be seeing the V6 Mustangs on the road with the Cobra badge/stripes/wheels soon.

At least Ford was nice enough to have different rear bumpers for the V6 and GT, so it takes a little more work than just a badge to fool a car guy.

that won't stop the people from doing it though. Type R Mustangs are pretty common around here. I just can't stand a car that is only good for straight well paved roads. People up here that have Mustangs are always complaining about how they "can't go anywhere" and I just laugh

Good point. I bet Honda made more money selling Type R emblems than Type R cars themselves.

We've got a Saleen Mustang here... It's not just a Type R... It's a GT-R... Badge taken right from the Skyline. I threw up a little in my mouth when I saw it.

I'm surprised to see a thread on here about the new Camaro. In recognition of that, i'm making my first post in months. Hi everyone.

[opinion]
Personally, I think it's the best looking of the three competitors, except for the back. The back is just average, but the grill is menacing, the hood is kickass, the sides look muscular enough, and the roofline screams 1969, which is, i'm sure, exactly what the designers were going for. While it's competitors - the Mustang, which looked cool when it came out, now looks just normal, and fairly boring. Even the new Cobra has very little to distinguish it visually from the pack. The Challenger is a joke visually...the idea of "retro" is to design a car that resembles the original, not to design a car that is an exact copy!
[/opinion]

So say what you want about how the new Camaro looks, but hear this...

The base Camaro will be equipped with the 3.9L V6 making 300hp (that's right the V6 will be making as much power as the current Stang GT). The Mid level car, which enthusiasts hope will carry the name Z28, will pack the LS2 V8 with 400hp. The top model (almost definetly called SS) will carry a slightly detuned LS7 making 480-490hp. GM seemed to be considering going with a supercharged LS2 to make about the same power, but this idea appears to have been abandoned with GM now mass-producing modified oil pans for the LS7.

The suspension is finally up-to-date, fully independent, and transmissions will be a 4-speed auto on the 6, a five speed auto w/tapshift or a 6-speed Tremec on the V8's.

So make what you want of it's looks, but this baby packs one hell of a punch, and it can handle. I'm getting in line.

Personally...

I don't feel it looks that bad at all! You have to remember it's a concept vehicle, so various character lines, etc. are over-emphasized to create a more dramatic effect.

That being said, the underlying shape, design and layout screams 'merican muscle! I used to own a Camaro, and I'm not adverse to owning one again down the road...

I definitely see elements of the '67 Camaro in the concept!

CHIKE! YOU JUST BOUGHT A CAR! No more fantasizing about getting another lol

Electrophil~ if you drove a base car with the V8 then it had to have been before 94. 93 was the last year of the LX 5.0 with 215hp. People dont buy Mustangs for their interiors either lol

And as for all of the new muscle cars... I hope the owners have just as much fun at the pump as they do driving them
