I have a Nokia 6230 which (I'm pretty sure) is the GSM version of the 6225. I'm very happy with it.

Technically there's nothing wrong with my Motorola T270c but my mom wants a cell phone and I'm going to use this as an opportunity to get a new one.
Oh, and camera/video functionality is not something I'm interested in with a cell phone. Priorities: 1. Talk time 2. Standby time 3. Ringtone support 4. Game support

Well, not too far off from my priorities....
Talk time - if I'm on the move, it usually means I don't want to spend a long time on the phone. If I do want to chat longer, I tell 'em I'll call 'em back once I'm comfortably sitting with my feet propped up, or lying back on a couch, with a coffee and a land line which gives me unlimited talk time when I want it. Else I got a great excuse to cut calls short "sorry, my battery is about to die" CLICK! ...or later... oh, sorry, must have lost my connection, you know how these old phones are Standby time - at least 3 days for me, and it is usually plugged in overnight anyway so I couldn't say for sure what the max is Ringtone support - mine plays Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" a.k.a. "Kill the Wabbit" perfect for here in Germany, although Hubby still gives me the occasional dirty look when it rings Game support - naw... got *much* better games I can play with Hubby |

David,
I have a Samsung A680VM through Sprint. I switched over to it, about a year ago, from several Nokias. I guess my experiences with are about the same as other users. The phone is small, and while that is nice, it limits the battery size. I wish it had a longer talk and standby time. Something like 2.5 hours of talk time, or so. My main complaint with the phone is the address book. Once you've entered a name, you cannot edit it. You can edit the numbers, email, and stuff like that, but you cannot edit the actual name. For me, I have something like four Sarah's and three Derrick's and you have to differentiate between them. If you want some decent advice regarding service and phones, I suggest Howard Forums: http://www.howardforums.com/ Eric

this is my favorite:
my current plan comes with unlimited anytime, anywhere, and anywho minutes. nice little features like scooping up rainwater and flinging it around like nunchucks is a plus. Last edited by Noir; 11-01-2005 at 06:51 PM. |

So I went with the Samsung A860. It was free with the contract. We'll see how it goes.
I didn't go with the Audiovox's because all their display models were ready to fall apart. I didn't go with the LG's because one was too expensive and the other didn't have analog. I didn't go Nokia as I've noticed they cause a lot of electrical interference. That only left me with Samsung's. I chose this one because I don't need/want the camera. The only thing I don't like about all the new cells is the blue backlighting...makes it more difficult to see at night.
