Re: Use of Toulene
Just curious if anyone here has used Toulene as a gas booster . If so is there or did you have any performence improvements .From what i've read so far , It is suppose increase the octane ratings (in the proper amounts) and also help clean out carbon build-ups etc. Yeah i did a search , but did'nt really say if anyone was using it? and if so if they had any improvements . Plus the thread was last year, so i was hopeing for new updated Info

Search around. There were two lengthy discussions not that long ago.

Try searching for "toluene" (I think). I got the spelling wrong too when I first searched.

i use it before trips to anchorage from fairbanks which is around 440ish where im at. and i get incredible gas miliage. one full tank here to there. im on empty when i get there. i have used it with out leaving town once and a used a tank for about 4 days driving constantly and kind of hard. your car will like the difference. after running u noticed little difference of power from cleaning but im sure it did its job. as far as the ecu adapting. mine was quick to notice the change and got a big pep in its step. i would recommend for trip or long periods of driving. so hot rodding is not to burn stuff up from heat (just in case like a warning label).

never tried that before but i use 100% pure acetone in my tank at 3 oz. per 10 gallons and i just got 200 miles to 3/8 of a tank!!! i also took a trip camping last week and got 350 miles to a full tank with about 70% highway miles with the ac on about 85% of the time. it works great and adds just a little more pep by the buttometer. try it and see for yourself.

btw, use it in 3 tanks of gas then only use it every other tank. and remember, more is not always better but experiment alittle and see how much works best for you.

Won't acetone eat the hell out of the fuel lines?

If your not aware of this you should be.
Toluene is listed as a Table II precursor under the United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.Because it is the beginning chemical path to several very powerful drugs.
Breathing even small amounts of Toluene may drastically affect and alter the central nervous system. Low to moderate levels can cause confusion, blurred vision, weakness, memory loss, nausea, loss of appetite, hearing and vision loss. These symptoms usually disappear in time after exposure has ended. Its also about 20 times more reactive than benzine. It is also a very strong solvent. And will rapidly degrade rubber fuel lines unless they have been specially designed to accept strong solvent's.And if I remember my basic chemistry correctly converting toluene into nitro-toluene is the beginning chemical path in the process of manufacturing TNT. Sorry guys but its not worth it. Last edited by SVXtra; 08-03-2005 at 12:13 AM. |

your using it in such small amounts that it hurts nothing.think about 3 ozs. vs. 10 gallons. |

Guys, face it: As long as there have been cars roaming the planet, there have been claims that this tack-on or that pour-in will work automotive miracles. By and large, we're talking mythology here.
There is NOTHING you can safely dump into your car's gas tank that will appreciably improve its performance or economy. The SVX owner's manual even cautions against using gasoline which contains methanol. dcb |

Sorry! I didn't mean to cause so much friction . I was just curious because I don't drive mine on a daily bases. So I was just curious about any additive I might add to keep her clean! I've had her sit so long sometimes I get the rocker noise (because she is as dry as a popcorn fart) and some smoke out the back. Then I take her out on the freeway and ask for a ticket! . How bout any suggestions on what to add if a car is not driven for awhile? . Earl I bet you can answer this one
