DVD in the dash

Several people have talked about this before with no clear cut solution. The link below shows a new Kenwood double din dash install that just might fit the bill for those interested (too many $$ for my budget - although if someone wanted to send me money or the unit, I'd do all the test fitting and try it out for a year or two - just to make sure it was OK ).

Looks cool, but I would be afraid that others might like it and there it goes!

That's why the door is there to hide it, Earl. Nice thing is that the unit does not interfere with the door at all and looks totally factory. I'd love to have one.

will putting a double DIN CD or DVD player in there make you lose the functionality of the door?
what about the ones that come out, then fold up the screen to see?

what are some good cheap CD/MP3 players for it?

What do the units cost? I saw one the other day (different one) that was about $1,800.

$1399 if you go with Crutchfield. Chances are you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

Same one I have. It fits well, with minor modification to the plastic that goes around the head unit

I prefer going on two seperate units, the Unit alone and the Screen alone, like the Crazy Russian did in his car... better than getting a folding Unit in a folding Dash, there will be a lot of confusion in mechanism and something will eventually break
